Ryan O'Neal Talks About Farrah's Final Days
Posted on Tue May 12, 2009 08:45 AM PDT
LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Farrah Fawcett seemed to be winning the battle against cancer for the first two years of her fight against the disease.
"She was very athletic and healthy and hungry and beautiful," Ryan O'Neal told Meredith Vieira on NBC's "Today." He says, "Everything was just as you remember about her."
But then her condition suddenly started to deteriorate. The realization happened during family walk near their home in Malibu.
"We used to take that wlak all the time to the rocks and back. And halfway there she stopped and said, 'Can we go back?' And Red and I looked at each other and we knew that..." O'Neal trails off.
O'Neal also talked about the last visit the couple's 24-year-old son Redmond had with his mother - a visit that was made possible by a special release from jail where the younger O'Neal is serving time for drug charges.
O'Neal says his son was brought to the house in shackles and handcuffs, "like he was John Dillinger."
"When you go into her," O'Neal told his son, "don't rattle your chains." O'Neal tells Vieira that Fawcett didn't know her son was in custody and that, "she just held him."
NBC will be airing a two-hour documentary this Friday titled "Farrah's Story," a video diary about her fight against cancer.

She isn't dead yet! Right? I haven't heard of her passing. Why are we talking about her like she is already gone. Give her some respect people!
GOD BLESS HER. SHE WILL BE WITH THOSE SHE LOVES AND THE ONES THAT LOVE HER.
She sure was a beauty! I didn't respect her acting in Charlie's Angels, but she sure got my respect as an actor when she did the movie "Burning Bed" - terrific movie. This Friday's special on NBC will generate many tears. God bless Her.

I respect as a actor in all her acting roles, she was and still a beautiful woman and very courageous. I will pray for her and my sympathy for her family
I fully agree with Patrick Swayze; why don't you find a pastor that believes in healing. Billy Burke is one...call him! I have seen too many miracles to not believe that God wants us sick. Call Billy Burke! 888-743-2533 or 813-287-2116 www.billyburke.org
It is sad to hear and read people's comments as if Farrah is dead already. Give her a break! She might just surprise all of us and get better. God is powerful and when people have faith in him often miracles happen. May God be with her and her family. Lets respect her privacy geez!
Sorry I said that wrong! I have seen too many miracles to not believe that God wants us healed.
Uhm, she isn't dead yet but this article sure makes it sound like she is gone!

May the LORD reveal Himself to her in a very special way, and to her grieving family.
having just lost my mother to cancer i all too well what the family and Farrah is going through. She IS a very talented actress as I grew up watching Charlies Angels. She was best at her movie rolls. My heart goes out to her and her amazing courage. God bless her AND her family, this will be difficult
It's not always about how you lived or that you died, but that you lived.
We are better off having had Farrah in this world, you can't say that about everyone who enters it. Her energy is always full of beauty, grace and goodness. You can't say that about everyone who enters this life, either, but you can say it about Farrah Fawcett.
May the lord shed his light and revive Farrah Fawcett, may the lord heal, bless, and take care of you!
No she is not gone yet, but to all of those saying "show her respect, etc..." From experience with this cancer and when it spreads like hers has. You know the person will pass very soon. You just know. God Bless her and her family. I feel their pain so excruciatingly. I hope they will be able to be strong when she is gone. It is very hard, very hard indeed.
I am a patient of cancer myself, had cheomo and I am now on remission. My respects to all cancer patients, the battle is very touch. Only by the grace of God did I make it thru. My prayers are with Farrah and her family.
Reading these posts, I believe now, more than ever, that some people in this world are just plain cruel, indecent and just plain ugly. Give this woman some respect. One day you will have your judgment day and face your maker - I hope by then you will have learned to have some compassion, a kind heart, and a forgiving soul. My heartfelt sympathy to Farrah and her family. She is not walking this alone - God is with her and in his own time, he will take her home. Peace be with her and her family
all the world is praying for you haaaaaaaaaaave faith you will pull through

It saddens me to hear of Faraha's ill health but she is an inspiration to me as she faces this chgallenge with much courage and strength akin to how she has lived her life. As with many before her it seems that it takesone's passing on to earn the repsect and recognition from one's peers regarding one's tallent. Just as it took the death of Karen Carpenter for the music industry to recognize her talent as a singer it seems Farah is accorded the same injustice for her peers to finally recognize her talents as an actress --- all one needs to do is see her performances in "The Burning Bed" and "Extremities" to give proof beyound a shadow of a doubt that this girl can act --- she was no less than brilliant in those roles and deserves better than the industry accorded her. Farah, God be with you and keep fighting my dear ---

May the Lord Bless Farrah and her family. Miracles can happen.
I really don't understand how some people can be so cruel. I pray that when it is your time to meet your maker you'll gather some understanding for this moment. God Bless.
God bless you Farrah. You are a beautiful person. I know God is looking for an Angel. YOU WILL BE AN ANGEL IN HEAVEN.
Farrah is a remarkable, talented, and beautiful woman. Unless you have been there you have no idea of the strength, both emotional and physical, just to live through the treatments. That woman at UCLA who stole/sold her medical records should be in jail. You are correct - stop writing her obit. They gave me 2 years - it's been 14! Colorectal cancer used to be an "old man's disease." Now it is 50/50 women/men. Don't kid yourself it can happen to anyone. I was young, a vegan, no famiy history, non-smoker/drinker, etc. She needs everyone's support, not snarky remarks and the invasion of her privacy by a bunch of nasty creeps. Miracles DO happen! God bless you, Farrah! Keep fighting, you have an army of admirers on your side.
A true icon...as a boy I adored her and as a man I respect her staying power in a business that is ruthless. Her courage now is admirable. Only wish Farrah and her family all the best. My thoughts are with you...You have displayed incredible courage and shown all of us that you are a person of true substance.
FARRAH, or family plz read this to her, if she is not able to at the time of posting there once was a young woman who spoke w you about her abuse, homelessness, being brought down, having to fight to keep a child a live that had gone thru 37 surgerys, & life support, which the Med community wanted to let this little miricle baby Rachael pass on, this young girl is deaf, & desires to be a performing artist singer, & she will! despite what the world believes with thier knowledge! Farrah U, met my wife in a LA second hand store, both looking for deals! My, wife, my daughter who has fought all her life to be alive, and myself the husband, pray, & know u will overcome, dnt listien to any of thje garbage, show us Farrah! Only u, Farrah, if u can remember, a young dark haired, thin bodied woman sharing her trails and tribulations w ur self, both of u are shy, but hit it off good, like it was ment to be! You will hv victory Farrah, only allow family & friends, & Dr.s with my attitude, & approach! Love the Parizanski's of Chicago! We know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am praying for you now. God is with you, let His Holy Spirit have dominion in your life right now. Jesus still heals
