Children & Youth Services would do Letterman's child a GREAT service by placing him in a home, ANY home, other than the one he is in now. The same way I fealt when I found out Garth Brooks was a cheat. What do you say? Temptation sometimes gets the best of all of us. It doesn't minimize his contributions to the entertainment world but, it definately slighlty minimizes the humor in some of what he says for me now that I don't revere him as the wholesome, private, family man I once thought he was. If we were to take away the children of every American family where one or both of the spouses has cheated, do you have any idea how large the foster care system would have to be? Dave is a guy who makes self deprecating jokes about himself as much as he does anyone else. He is a sinner. That is not really a shock to me. Is that really something that anyone of us can judge him for. If he broke the law he will have to pay the price. I don't always agree with Dave, but he is the most sincere and without a doubt the best interviewer on late night. I am disappointed and don't approve but I don't have the expectation that celebrities are moral heros. No more than I expect Tom Cruise will have a positive thing to say about Jesus or depression medication but I am not gonna boycott his movies. Tom's an ACTOR and Dave is a COMEDIAN THAT INTERVIEWS CELBS WHILE PEOPLE ARE DOSING OFF TO SLEEP.

The difference between Palin and Letterman is that Letterman has never tried to portray himself as a moral standard. He's an entertainer, he's not running for president (or vice president). I'm lukewarm on Letterman...he can be funny, and he can step over the line, but so can any other comedian worth his or her salt. I don't always agree with his political comments, either, but he's entitled to them, and having an opposing view does not mean he's Satan on earth.

To imply that because he's criticized any member of the right wing of politics in this country and therefore deserves to be blackmailed for thoughtless -- but not uncommon -- adult behavior is simplistic and childist...nor does his behavior equate with pedophilia. A blackmailer is not only dangerous to his target, he or she is dangerous to the target's innocent family as well.
