Posted on Mon Feb 22, 2010 02:55 PM PDT

50cent200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Rapper-turned-actor Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson will be hitting the big screen once again.

Jackson and co-producer Randall Emmett have given the go ahead for Things Fall Apart, a movie based on a football player overcoming personal obstacles. The 34-year old will play the lead role in which the character is a star running back in his senior year of college. For his character, the rapper will drop 65 pounds.

Things Fall Apart will be directed by Mario Van Peebles, who will also star in the film. The start date for filming has yet to be announced.

Up next, "50" will star opposite Val Kilmer in The Gun. But don't expect him to drop his music career anytime soon. He'll be hitting the road this week to support his latest rap album Before I Self Destruct.
