MANHATTAN, New York (X17online) - Actress Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76. The Golden Girls actress suffered a massive stroke and passed away at 1am at Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
McClanahan became a household name playing Blanche Deveraux, who was known for her quick wit and sexually-sarcastic comments. She suffered a minor stroke earlier this year, while recovering from bypass surgery.
The actress died with her family beside her, and her manager says, "She went in peace."
Just last year, McClanahan's Golden Girls co-star, Bea Arthur, died of cancer. Estelle Getty, also part of the cast, died in 2008. As for Betty White, she has recently revamped her career by hosting Saturday Night Live.
