LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Los Angeles prosecutors are now deciding the next step for Mel Gibson in the ongoing domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Detectives have officially handed over the case to the District Attorney's office to decide what charges the actor will face.

The case stems from intense phone messages where Gibson, 54, threatened Grigorieva, 40 after she accused him of punching her several times in the face. Photos of the alleged attack were released online.

Investigators are also still looking into whether Grigorieva was extorting money from the Mad Max actor. As for the DA's decision on the charges, we're told it could take months.
