LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Sally Menke, an Oscar-nominated film editor who worked with director Quentin Tarantino, was found dead in Beachwood Canyon near Griffith Park in LA.

The editor, 56, had gone for a hike with a friend, but according to Ed Winter of the LA County Coroner's office, "The friend decided it was hot and went home."

Menke's body was found just after 2am near a trail.

Winter adds, "It did not appear to be foul play. Possibly natural. We're not making any determination until we're able to find out her medical history and conduct an autopsy."

An autopsy will be performed later this week....possibly as early as tomorrow. Menke worked on Tarantino films such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Jackie Brown.
