LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Jane Lynch will star in the big-screen version of The Three Stooges, Deadline reports.

The Emmy-winning star of Glee will play Mother Superior, who runs the orphanage where the stooges grow up.

The Farrelly brothers, Peter and Bobby, are directing the project, which has been in the works for a while. Originally, stars such as Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro were rumored to be playing the famous Moe, Larry and Curly.

Now, Lynch joins Will & Grace's Sean Hayes as Larry and relative unknowns Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe and Will Sasso as Curly.

Production begins in May.
