Posted on Fri Jun 24, 2011 10:00 AM PDT

ColumboPeterFalk200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Peter Falk, 83, has passed away.

Falk won four Emmys for his portrayal of TV Lt. Detective Columbo on the hit show, Columbo. He was also nominated for two Oscars -- for his first two films -- and won a Tony. He won an additional Emmy for another TV role.

A young Falk lived with Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman as the three struggled to break into acting. Falk struggled due to his glass eye, which later became a trademark of sorts.

Falk is survived by his wife, Shera, and his two daughters.
