LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Dakota Fanning has signed on to star in Effie, according to Deadline.
The teen actress will play the title role in the period piece written by Emma Thompson. Effie focuses on the marriage of Euphemia Gray and critic John Ruskin during the 1850s.
The story goes that the loveless marriage was never consummated, and Effie later fell in love with Ruskin's protégé, painter John Everett Millais.
Greg Wise and Tom Sturridge will play Ruskin and Millais, respectively. Filming is set to begin October 17 and will take place in Scotland, London and Venice. This is Thompson's first original script.
