Katy Perry's 5th Single Hits No. 1, Breaks Billboard Record

KatyPerryCaliforniaGurls080111_230.jpgNEW YORK, New York (X17online) - Katy Perry's Teenage Dream has become the first album in the history of Billboard's Pop Songs chart to have five singles hit No. 1.

Perry broke the record with her latest tune, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", which rose from No. 2 to 1 this week. The song also broke the record for most weekly plays in the Pop Song chart's history with 12,468.

The first song off Teenage Dream to hit the top of the chart was "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dog," followed by "Teenage Dream," "Firework" and "E.T.," featuring Kanye West.

Billboard's Pop Songs chart has been around for nearly 19 years. Previously Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds and Lady Gaga's The Fame each held the record for most No. 1 singles off one album with four each.
