LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Meryl Streep will be among this year’s recipients of the John F. Kennedy Center Honors.
The Kennedy Center Honors is given annually to performing artists for their contributions to American culture and is widely recognized as the most prestigious performing arts award in the country.
Streep, no stranger to accolades, joins singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, jazz performer Sonny Rollins, and crooner and actress Barbara Cook.
“I am deeply honored by this news, and wish my mother and father were alive to hear it!” Streep said in a statement Tuesday.
The Kennedy Honors recipients will be honored by President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at a White House reception on Dec. 4. A gala ceremony will follow at the Kennedy Center, which is set to air on Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
