LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Ratings for the much-hyped premiere of X Factor paled in comparison to competitor American Idol.
The X Factor’s U.S. debut drew 12.5 million viewers, while the tenth season premiere of American Idol drew 26.2 million viewers.
The news will likely come as a disappointment to X Factor producer Simon Cowell, who controversially left American Idol to pursue the show.
Despite the disappointing numbers, viewership is expected to grow for the extravagant singing competition, which will prize its winner with a $5 million recording contract.
