David Cassidy Sues Sony Over Partridge Family Earnings

partridgefamily200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - David Cassidy has filed a lawsuit against Sony Pictures Entertainment and Screen Gems Inc. for failing to properly compensate him for his stint on The Partridge Family.

The former child charges the studio with fraud and breach of contract, citing the $500 million that they have allegedly earned – and not shared - from royalties, merchandising, and a TV spin-off deal.

Cassidy’s contract with Sony, which he claims he only recently uncovered, states that the actor was owed 7.5 percent of net profits from all royalties,15 percent of merchandising profits, and an unspecified cut of spin-off deals.

In a letter to Cassidy’s attorney, Sony’s attorney Gregory Boone countered, "It would seem as though your client does not appreciate the difference between merchandising of The Partridge Family series and merchandising using Mr. Cassidy's name, voice or likeness.”
