LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will premiere in director Peter Jackson’s hometown of Wellington, New Zealand.
Warner Bros. made the decision following Kiwis’ overwhelmingly positive response to The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King premiere in NZ in 2003.
"No one I don't think in the international industry could quite believe how the country got behind that moment," Jackson told NZ reporters, "and I think everyone involved is quite honestly keen to let New Zealand have the premiere of the first Hobbit movie."
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is currently filming and is scheduled for a Dec. 13, 2012 release.
