Crash Producer Ordered To Pay $12 Million

crashlawsuit200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A number of individuals involved in the 2005 film Crash, including director Paul Haggis and co-star Brendan Fraser, have won a $12 million lawsuit against the film’s producer Bob Yari.

L.A. Superior Court Judge Daniel J. Buckley charged Yari with diverting profits from the film and its participants by “diverting funds to third parties; adopting bogus contractual interpretations; refusing to correct accounting errors in a timely manner; adopting inappropriate accounting procedures that were contrary to industry standards; and, ultimately, using all of these to avoid paying plaintiffs money due under contracts."

This isn’t Yari’s first legal woe regarding the Oscar-winning film: he was sued in 2006 and 2010 for withholding funds from two producers and actor Matt Dillon, respectively, and in 2010 his production company Bob Yari Prods. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
