Nicolas Cage Sells Comic Book For $2 Million
Posted on Thu Dec 1, 2011 01:33 PM PDT

nicolascageauction200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Nicolas Cage’s copy of Action Comics No. 1 sold at an online auction for a record-breaking $2,161,000.

Cage’s copy of the comic book, which was the first to feature an appearance by Superman, is the highest publicly-graded among the 100 known to exist and is the first comic book to auction for more than $2 million.

Cage has had a complicated history with the comic book: three years after purchasing his copy in 1997 for approximately $150,000, the actor reported it as stolen from his home. The comic book wasn’t recovered until April 2011, when it was found in an abandoned storage locker in Southern California.
