LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - X-Factor castoff Rachel Crow has signed a talent deal with Nickelodeon TV and a record contract with Columbia Records. The teen sensation, who was mentored by Simon Cowell on the Fox singing competition, will star in her own musical comedy series for Nickelodeon, and will also have a recurring role on the network's new comedy series Fred: The Show.
Disney was rumored to be interested in Crow, so Nickelodeon couldn't be happier to have won the rising star. "We're delighted to be home to her first acting project and think she is poised to join the ranks of our next generation of Nick stars," Nickelodeon's West Coast Operations EVP Paula Kaplan said in a statement.
As far as Crow's recording contract, she will join labelmates such as Adele and Beyonce and hopes to make spunky, upbeat music in keeping with her mentor Simon Cowell's vision for her. "I'll remember to stay true to who you are and just be yourself, because if you don't, than you will lose sight of the reason you started," she explains of the biggest lesson she will take with her as she takes the next step in her promising career.
Crow has already begun filming with Nickelodeon, with at least five episodes to air in the spring.
