The 1997 blockbuster is projected to take in around $5 million to $6 million, figures that can nearly edge out the biggest movie of 2012.

While Paramount predicts that Titanic will take in $20 million to $25 million during the Wednesday to Friday stretch, other box-office observers are projecting the film to rake in anywhere from $27 million to $30 million in that period.

The original Titanic took in $1.8 billion worldwide, making it the top grossing film until Avatar hit theaters.
