Obama To Letterman: "I Was Actually Black Before The Election"

obamaletterman200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - In the first time a sitting president has visited The Late Show, Barack Obama sat down with Dave Letterman Monday night to discuss his health care reform, the war in Afghanistan, and whether or not he feels the harsh criticism of him displayed in recent meetings and protests is racially motivated.

"First of all, I think it's important to realize that I was actually black before the election," Obama quipped.

"Really!" Dave responded. How long have you been a black man?"

Obama is in New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly, but took the time to appear on the popular late night show in an effort to drum up more support for his health care plan.

Dave cited the top ten reasons Obama agreed to come on the show, some of which were, "We told him Megan Fox would be here," and "Said yes without thinking...like Bush did with Iraq."

This isn't the first time Obama appeared on late-night tv as the prez - he also visited Jay Leno back in March, where he caused some controversy with a remark about The Special Olympics, which he later apologized for.

Barack Obama Discusses Same Sex Marriage On The View

bobama010311_17_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (x17online) - President Barack Obama sat down with the ladies of The View during a taping on Monday and he talked about the ongoing debate on gay marriage and its effect on the upcoming election.

"This is going to be a big contrast in the campaign because you’ve got Governor Romney saying we should actually have a constitutional amendment installing the notion that you can’t have same-sex marriages," Obama said.

While he supports gay marriage, the commander-in-chief wouldn't fully commit to fight for the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

"My justice department has said to the courts, we don't think the Defense of Marriage Act is constitutional," the president said. "This is something that historically had been determined at the state level and part of my believing ultimately that civil unions weren't sufficient."

When pressed on repealing the act, Obama kept it succinct by saying, "Congress is clearly on notice that I think it's a bad idea."
