Britney Spears BSPEARSLRUDOLPH041408_01.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears was seen with her former manager Larry Rudolph yesterday for the first time in more than a year.

After a public falling-out at the beginning of last year, at which time Spears formally split from her long-time manager, Rudolph added references to Spears to his MySpace page just two weeks ago sparking numerous online reports that he had again added Spears to his client list.

But new photos posted on X17online seem to confirm that the two are at least friendly again, as they were spotted out together last night at a recording studio in Burbank.

Britney Spears BSPEARSACCIDENT041208.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears did not appear in court today for a hearing regarding her trust and legal fees; however, her father Jamie Spears' lawyers, Geraldine Wyle and Andrew Wallet (who is also a co-conservator) were both present at the Los Angeles Superior Court this afternoon. Additionally, Clark Byam, another Spears family lawyer, was present.

The attorneys met behind closed doors, and commissioner Reva Goetz determined how much money Spears owed them for their legal work. Samuel Ingham will be given $10,000 per week until July 31, Andrew Wallet will receive $100,000 to cover previous legal work up until March 31, and Geraldine Wyle will receive an $175,000 advance today to cover legal fees up until March 31. Britney Spears In Louisiana For Jamie Lynn Spears' Baby Shower

Britney Spears BSPEARSGYM042808.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears left Los Angeles at 5 AM this morning to head to Kentwood, Louisiana for younger sister Jamie Lynn's baby shower. Britney is currently at her mother's house, and the baby shower will be held there tomorrow.

According to a source for Life & Style, “At first, Jamie didn’t think it was a good idea for Brit to go. He thought it might create chaos in Kentwood, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to put Jamie Lynn — or Britney — in the middle of that. Britney can’t travel without Jamie’s permission, so she worked really hard to talk him into it; it was so important for her to be there for her little sister. He finally gave in, knowing it’d be good for Brit and Jamie Lynn to finally see each other.”

Britney Spears Attends Custody Hearing

Britney Spears britboys_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears arrived around 8 am PT at the Los Angeles County Courthouse for a progress hearing in her custody case with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Federline was given full custody of the couple's two boys, Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2, after Spears was involuntarily committed to UCLA's psychiatric ward on January 4.

After Spears' release from the hospital and the subsequent conservatorship assigned to her father, Jamie, the pop star regained limited monitored visitation with her sons.

If Commissioner Scott Gordon who is presiding over today's hearing, deems Spears competent, he could amend the original custody decision and grant more visits to Spears.

Britney Spears Sworn In To Give Testimony In Custody Hearing

Britney Spears BSPEARSLIGHT042608.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears was sworn in at the Los Angeles Family Court around 9:30 AM PST to give testimony at a progress hearing in her custody case with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears was wearing a mod-print dress - chocolate brown with a polka dot and square pattern - with a cropped sweater and heels, and had her hair blown our straight with part down the middle. She walked with hands folded in front of her and looked attentive. Spears was talkative with her parents Jamie and Lynne who accompanied her.

As Spears was sworn as someone who could provide testimony under oath during the hear, she gave her legal name as "Britney." Commission Scott Gordon then asked Spears to state her full name at which time she provided "Britney Spears."

The hearing started around 9:02 a.m. PST in room 831 of the Los Angeles County Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.

This is the first time Spears has faced her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, in court regarding the custody of their two children, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

The pop star's ex was wearing a light cream pinstripe suit with earrings in both ears and appeared calm and confident with his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan and his publicist, Elliot Mintz, at his side.

At approximately 9:35 a.m. PST, the media and everyone in the courtroom not related to the case, was asked to leave the room under the Family Code 214 which states: "Except as otherwise provided in this code or by court rule, the court may, when it considers it necessary in the interests of justice and the persons involved, direct the trial of any issue of fact joined in a proceeding under this code to be private, and may exclude all persons except the officers of the court, the parties, their witnesses, and counsel."

Members of the media, including an X17online reporter, are waiting in the hallway outside the courtroom now.

More updates to follow.

Britney Spears Court Update

Britney Spears BSPEARS0425.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears has now left the courtroom twice today during her custody hearing with Kevin Federline. Spears first exited the room around 10 a.m. PST and then court spokesperson Allan Parachini announced a break at approximately 10:30 am PST, with both Spears and Federline leaving the courtroom.

Ahead of the first break, Parachini said before the courtroom, "Please make room for a member of the court," just ahead of Britney's leaving the room, holding the hand of her attorney Blair Berk!

Spears headed to an elevator, possibly to go to another floor for a bathroom break, while Federline presumably stayed inside the courtroom.

Approximately 15 minutes after returning from her first break, both parties in the hearing left the room for another break.

Spears emerged with "eyes wet," still holding the hand of attorney Blair Berk, followed by her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, attorney Stacy Phillips and two bodyguards.

Kevin left with his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan and a bodyguard.

Reporters at the courthouse speculate that the parties could be headed to a private room to discuss a joint offer to present to Commissioner Scott Gordon.

Britney Spears Court Update

Britney Spears BSPEARSBIRTHDAY1202.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Court has adjourned for the day in Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's custody hearing at the Los Angeles County Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.

Spears left the courthouse around 12:10 pm PST and Federline is expected to be leaving momentarily, perhaps after his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, speaks to the press.

The hearing began, as most family court hearings do, as being open to the public and to the press, but after both parties were sworn in, Commissioner Scott Gordon asked all un-involved parties to leave the room under Family Code 214 which reads: "Except as otherwise provided in this code or by court rule, the court may, when it considers it necessary in the interests of justice and the persons involved, direct the trial of any issue of fact joined in a proceeding under this code to be private, and may exclude all persons except the officers of the court, the parties, their witnesses, and counsel."

Both parties spent the better part of the late morning in separate, private chambers with their attorneys before reconvening in the courtroom and being dismissed.

It is still unclear what the outcome of today's hearing was except that the next progress hearing will be July 16. We expect a press conference by court spokesperson Allan Parachini shortly, as well as statements from Kaplan.

Britney Gets "Extended Visitation"

Britney Spears BSPEARS061106_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears was awarded extended visitation rights with her two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, today in a progress hearing that was part of the ongoing custody battle between the pop star and her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The hearing took up the entire morning at the Los Angeles County Courthouse, where the press were barred from courtroom after both parties were sworn in.

No details of Spears' extended visitation rights were given but Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said this, in a press conference after that hearing:

"This represents a step moving forward ... Obviously it's something more than it has been and it's a step in the right direction. The order that was in place has remained in place, with the exception that there has been some graduated expansion of time. Other than that, nothing has been changed with the order.

I think that's a function of the recognition of the progress to date and the signs of progress ... that have been recognized by Kevin and will be recognized by the court in due time.

Over the past few months, one would say that the daily situation has been stabilized ... The children are doing great; I think they're doing really great. And that's the key question and that's what this is all about. Whether these children will have the benefit, at some point in the future, of having both parents participating, then that will occur ... but at this point, we'll take it one step at a time."

When asked, specifically, about Spears' progress, Kaplan said, "There's a conservatorship in place and whether or not the signs of progress that have been seen are a function of the stability and structure that Mr. [Jamie] Spears has brought to the picture, I would assume so."

Federline's spokesperson, Elliot Mintz gave this statement on behalf of his client: "Kevin is extremely pleased with the way things went today and everybody seems to be hoping and believing that there are two children who will be enjoying two parents who love them and care for them."

Spears' parents Jamie and Lynn released this statement through a spokesperson: "We are so pleased with Britney's progress and we are very appreciative of the court's recognition of this progress."

That spokesperson confirmed, "There will be another progress hearing on July 15 to determine how the modified custody agreement has evolved."

Britney Spears "Extended" Visitation Explained

Britney Spears BSPEARSPINK040908.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears has been given "extended" visitation, according to Mark Vincent Kaplan, attorney for Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline; and X17online has learned exclusively that the singer's visits with her sons will remain on course with her current schedule of three days a week, but with slightly extended hours, a source close to the case says. Spears will be able to see Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, from 9 AM to noon three days a week, as she does now, and on occasion from 4 PM to 7 PM, with the presence of a court appointed monitor.

Though Spears' court-ordered psychological report cites an overall improvement in her mental health, overnight visits are well down the road due to lingering concerns over Spears' still fragile mental state, according to our source. Most media reports attribute her steady improvement to her father's role as her co-conservator along with his attorney, so when the conservatorship is re-evaluated later this summer, it could potentially have a negative on Spears' custody case, if the powers of the conservator are reduced or if the conservatorship is discontinued. On July 31, Commissioner Reva Goetz will conduct a progress hearing on this matter.

If Jamie Spears' conservatorship powers are reduced or eliminated, it may be harder for his daughter to prove to the court that she is mentally stable and will remain so, whereas if the conservatorship remains in place, the pop star may have an easier time convincing the court that she is ready for overnight visits or even partial custody.

Britney Spears Spends Mother's Day With Her Sons

Britney Spears BSpearsKids051208.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears was reunited with her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, on Mother's Day, just days after a Los Angeles County court granted her extended visitation rights.

Spears' boys arrived at her Beverly Hills home around 9 AM on Sunday, and Spear's father Jamie was spotted taking the boys for a ride in their favorite wagon and snapping pictures of his daughter and his grandsons. The boys left around 6:30 PM, and afterward, the mother-of-two took her mother Lynne to the trendy southern European eatery Sur in Beverly Hills where she dined twice last week.

Meanwhile, Spears' pregnant 16 year-old sister Jamie Lynn was in the family's hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana on Mother's Day and X17 spotted the younger Spears with her boyfriend and the father of her baby, Casey Aldridge, attending a local church.

Spears has been spending time with her mother, from whom she was recently estranged; the two flew back from Kentwood together last Sunday (May 4) after attending sister Jamie Lynn's baby shower. Spears and her mother were out this Saturday (May 10) morning when Spears treated her mom to a coffee from Starbucks to kick off her Mother's Day weekend.

On Sunday, while both her boys were present, X17online snapped some exclusive pictures of Britney smoking outside her house. These and the other X17 images of Spears' suspiciously growing belly have led to speculation that the singer could be pregnant and magazine editors from around the world have been contacting X17 asking if she is, in fact, expecting her third child.

Britney Spears And Mel Gibson Travel To Costa Rica

Britney Spears BSPEARS0425.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears, her father Jamie Spears and Mel Gibson are on their way to Costa Rica, to stay at Gibson's ranch on the Guanacaste Peninsula in Samara.

Most celebrities stay at the Four Seasons Resort at Peninsula Papagayo, but Spears opted to stay at Gibson's estate instead. X17online also contacted several locals in the area, who said it was news to them that the pop star and actor were on their way.

Though the two seem like unlikely friends, they were spotted dining together back in March, and in December of 2006, Gibson even showed his support for Spears when he said:

"I feel compassion for someone like Britney, for instance. She never gets a moment. She's, like, dogged all the time and followed and she's trying to have a life. Your heart goes out to her because I'm positive that, at her core, she's a good woman."

Britney Spears' Father Quits His Job To Be Full Time Conservator

Britney Spears BSpearsCellu051908.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' father Jamie Spears has quit his job as a caterer in order to be a full-time conservator for his daughter, reports ContactMusic.com.

According to court documents, Jamie Spears has taken on a full-time position as co-conservator, earning $2,500 a week for the position, as well as the $10,000 lump sum he was given to cover expenses for his first month monitoring Spears and her estate. The court papers also state that it was necessary for him to quit his catering job due to the responsibilities of being a conservator which "have required (his) full-time attention".

In February of 2008, Jamie Spears was appointed co-conservator of his daughter's legal and financial affairs, along with court-appointed observer Andrew Wallet. The conservatorship has had a positive impact on Spears; in recent months she has appeared healthier and happier and even gained extended visitation rights with her two sons; Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

Ingham said Britney's medical condition is "fluid" because of her ever-changing treatment, according to an Associated Press report.

The wire service also states that Spears' attorney said it could be "harmful" for Spears to participate in her upcoming July 31 probate hearing so it is expected she will not appear.

Britney Spears Due Back In Court This Week

Britney Spears BSpearsEdHardy052308_39.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears is due back in court tomorrow for a probate hearing that will determine whether or not she is fit to participate in the July 31 hearing regarding her conservatorship case.

Additionally, there will be a criminal hearing held on Wednesday, June 18 in Van Nuys regarding Spears driving without a license, according to attorney J. Michael Flanagan, who will be representing Spears. Last August, when Spears was involved in a hit and run (charges were later dismissed), it was first determined that she was not driving with a valid California driver's license.

In other Spears legal news, there won't be a hearing for the incident that occurred last November in which Spears ran over the foot of a photographer, as the Los Angeles Police Department released documents that show there is "no evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect [Spears] was aware that the victim's foot had been struck by the car."

Britney Spears Given Permission To Sell Home

Britney Spears BSpears061608_27.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz gave Britney Spears' conservators permission to sell the singer's Summit home today during a conference with her attorneys, according to CNS. Numerous reports have circulated in recent weeks that Spears, 26, is looking to relocate to Calabasas, California.

Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet are the co-conservators of Spears' estate, and the next hearing regarding Spears' conservatorship will take place on July 31, but it will be a pretrial evidentiary hearing instead of a hearing deciding whether or not Spears' conservatorship will be extended.

Britney Spears To Build House In Calabasas

Britney Spears BSpearsVoice052108.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Yesterday, a Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner granted Britney Spears' conservators permission to sell her Summit home, and an inside source has revealed exclusively to X17online that Spears will be building a home in Calabasas and renting one until construction is finished.

Spears will be renting a mansion in the The Oaks of Calababas, which is a gated community with homes in the $10 million price range. Spears will simultaneously be building a new home in the same neighborhood, and though construction has not yet begun, a contractor has been hired.

Though reports are circulating that Spears, 26, is trying to move into another Calabasas property called Chateau Suenos, X17 spoke directly with Jeff Biebuyck, the real estate agent with the listing, and he informed us that no one has been shown the property.

Mr. Biebuyck, of Ewing & Associates, released the following statement to X17online:

"I am the only person with the key [to the Chateau Suenos property] and I have never met Britney Spears and have never shown her this or any house. The house isn't even on the market right now."

New Details About Britney Spears' Upcoming Album

Britney Spears BSpearsGym061108.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears is currently working on her upcoming album, and her vocal producer Jim Beanz told Us Weekly, "Britney is amazing. We never see anything but positives out of her. Everyone has personal stuff, but a true professional doesn't bring it into the studio."

In April, Spears' former manager Larry Rudolph told the magazine that Spears had gone into the studio "just for fun," and that "she is on the right path."

Over the past few months, Spears has been photographed leaving the home of a voice coach, as well as the dance studio, and it is also being reported that J.R. Rotem and Sean Garrett will work with the singer on the upcoming album.

Spears is currently in Louisiana with her family, as her younger sister Jamie Lynn gave birth to a baby girl, Maddie Briann yesterday morning.

Britney Spears BSpears062008.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The Los Angeles Superior Court has confirmed that there has been a change in the custody agreement between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, and sources tell E! Online that Spears has been given overnight visits with her two young sons.

Upon leaving the courtroom, Spears said she was "pleased" with the outcome and both her and Federline appeared to be in good spirits. Additionally, Laura Wasser has officially replaced Stacy Phillips as Spears' attorney. Wasser previously served as Spears' lawyer, but quit in September of 2007.

Court spokesperson Allan Parachini told the media that though Spears did not testify, "there was an exchange or two between her and Commissioner Gordon," and she was "very business-like." Parachini added that "both sides have been very cooperative."

The scheduled trial date in August remains unchanged.

Spears And Federline Mediation Was "Positive"

Britney Spears BSPEARS061106_200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, revealed to E! News after a mediation session on Thursday that both Federline and Spears are looking to work out a custody agreement prior to their upcoming trial in August.

Kaplan stated:

"Kevin is seeking to maintain the sole legal and physical custody that he presently has. There's nothing magical about 50-50. There's nothing magical about 60-40. What's magical is that whatever order is in place, it's the order that best suits the best interest of the children. Kevin has had sole legal custody since January. He wants that to become a permanent order at trial, and the visitation to be consistent with what the court expanded it to this week."

Spears currently has two supervised day visits with her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, and last week, one supervised overnight visit per week was added to her visitation rights. Kaplan added that Federline is more than happy to give ex-wife Spears not only more custody rights, but the ability to be "involved in their lives in a very substantial and meaningful way," and credits the conservatorship with her progress.

"When the conservatorship was imposed, it brought a certain sense of structure and stability to an environment that seemed to be continually in flux. And in flux is not a description of what you want for a child's environment."

Regarding the overall mood of the mediation meeting, Kaplan stated:

"The mediation didn't result in an agreement that would avoid the trial set in August...The mood was comfortable, positive and it was a mood that was consistent with opening at least a great dialogue, which is necessary."

Confirmed: Britney Spears Working On Upcoming Album

Britney Spears BSPEARSSING021104_001.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Representatives have confirmed that Britney Spears is hard at work on her sixth studio album, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Spears' manager Larry Rudolph and Jive Records released the following statement:

“Britney Spears is spending her summer in the recording studio, working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters. We’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far.”

One of the producers, Sean Garrett, who has worked with Usher and Beyonce, tells the magazine, “We’re trying to take her stuff to the next level. I’m going to come up with something crazy for her. I like to work on an artist when they count them out...and bring them back.”

Madonna Wants To Reunite Britney Spears And Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears BSpears010308_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Madonna wants to reunite former lovers Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake on stage during her Sticky & Sweet world tour, according to The Sun.

Madonna has reportedly asked Spears to make a surprise appearance at several of her shows, and Spears has already filmed a video sequence to be played across a large screen during the concerts. However, Madonna is looking to take things to the next level, as she wants Timberlake to make an appearance and perform their duet, 4 Minutes, and a source tells The Sun Madonna even hopes to get both Spears and Timberlake on the same stage for her final show in Miami this November.

A source told The Sun:

“Madonna is always trying to raise the bar and Britney and Timberlake on the same stage would be perfect. They have both been asked but I think both are a bit reluctant. Britney would find it all a bit emotional and JT might not fancy it. More likely is that they both appear on different dates, but if anyone can make this happen it’s Madonna.”

Britney Spears Agrees To Give Kevin Federline Sole Custody Of Their Boys

Britney Spears BSPEARSPINK040908.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears has agreed to give Kevin Federline sole legal and physical custody of their sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is in court this morning finalizing his client's full custody order, and last night he told E! News Spears and Federline had finally reached a settlement in their custody case.

Kaplan said, "The case has been settled. The court still has to approve it. Kevin was not [out] to get custody. Kevin's goal was to set up some kind of template so the mother of his children can coparent. He said, 'I need to have Britney to be involved in the coparenting of the kids, but I need there to be a structure.' "

"Kevin is absolutely delighted," Kaplan added. "Nobody could have anticipated the terms of events that have occurred...This was a two-year journey that will be halted at a point that is good for these children. Custody is always modifiable. If there is a final order, it means there is nothing to try."

Spears has made remarkable progress over the past few months, largely due to the influence of her father Jamie, who was appointed a co-conservator of her estate on February 1. However, on July 31, Spears' conservatorship will be reviewed, and it will either be extended or be terminated.

"While I can't tell you the terms, the order does anticipate what happens if the conservatorship is ended. The devil is always in the details, and this is a very detailed deal memo. Nobody can predict what the future will bring, but to the extent possible, I think we have really anticipated how to proceed."

A Resolution "Will Be Imminent" For Spears And Federline's Custody Case

Britney Spears BSPEARS0425.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's attorneys were in court this morning finalizing their clients modified custody order, and though the court has not yet made the agreement official, all parties have agreed that Federline will be given sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

Spears' attorney, Lauren Wasser called today's decision "a victory for the entire family," and added that Spears and Federline have "finally figured out a way to work together as co-parents, and the kids will benefit as a result of that." Wasser told the press Spears has the children right now, she will have them tonight and she is "very excited" about seeing them again this weekend and she "is doing really well." Wasser also added that Spears "will get more custodial time by the end of the year."

Kaplan told the media he was "not going to comment on the terms of an agreement, it has not yet been ordered by the court," but the agreement "will be converted into a legal document with the court." No word on how long it will take for the agreement to become official, but Kaplan added that the need to go to trial has been averted, and it "has been a long ordeal and to have that over is extremely rewarding."

Court spokesman Allan Parachini reiterated Kaplan's remarks, as he told the press outside the courtroom today that a settlement has not yet been reached, but the lawyers are working together and a resolution "will be imminent, but what that is [the resolution] I don't know."

Neither Spears not Federline were present at today's hearing.

Britney Spears Is Spending $23,000 A Month To Get Back In Shape

Britney Spears BSpears072708_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears is investing both time and money in a diet and fitness routine that costs around $23,000 a month, according to Closer UK.

Spears is shelling out nearly $4,000 a month for a private dance choreographer, $8,000 to work with the Pussycat Dolls' personal trainer James Van Daff, and $10,000 a month for a nutritionist and dietary supplements. In addition to her financial commitment, Spears has radically altered her diet and exercise habits - a source tells the magazine Spears has "changed the way she eats, trying to have only two thirds of what is on her plate. It's all about portion control and fresh food now."

Spears limits herself to 1,400 calories per day, tries to include as much steamed fish in her diet as possible and drinks a lot of water in place of Red Bull. However, the singer allows herself "cheat days," once a week where she is allowed to give in to her cravings and eat whatever she wants.

Britney Spears' Conservatorship Could End Tomorrow

Britney Spears BSpearsLight042608.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A source close to Britney Spears tells X17online exclusively that Jamie Spears' conservatorship over his daughter's estate could end tomorrow, a day ahead of the scheduled hearing in which the matter is to be reviewed.

Jamie Spears was named temporary co-conservator of his daughter's estate on February 1st, the same day a restraining order was issued against her former manager, Sam Lutfi.

Since then, both Jamie Spears and fellow co-conservator, attorney Andrew Wallet have been overseeing Spears' assets as well as her legal and medical issues. Spears recently gave sole physical and legal custody of sons Sean Preson, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to her ex-husband Kevin Federline, but she has gained more visitation with the boys over the past few months. Many close to the Spears camp have noted the progress the singer has made since the conservatorship began, and largely credit the positive influence of her father.

The hearing regarding Spears' conservatorship is scheduled for Thursday, July 31st, but this new development may change the need for the court date. Spears is currently vacationing in Mexico, but it is expected that she will return by Wednesday, the day before the hearing.

Britney Spears "Does Not Want To Be Contacted" By Sam Lutfi

Britney Spears BSpearsBl071108.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' court appointed attorney, Samuel D. Ingham told reporters yesterday that he will not seek an extension on the restraining order against Osama "Sam" Lutfi, due to the fact that Spears has cut off all communication with him on her own accord.

Ingham told the Associated Press, "Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama "Sam" Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future." Lutfi, Spears' former friend and manager seems willing to go along with the singer's wishes, as he told the AP that he and Spears' father "[had] mutually agreed in private that no hearing or order is necessary at this time."

On February 1, 2008, Spears' parents Jamie and Lynne Spears filed a restraining order against Lutfi that required him to stay 250 yards away from their daughter and her homes. In court documents, Lynne Spears claimed that Lutfi kept the pop singer hostage in her own house, drugged her and took over her finances. Lutfi was a mainstay in Spears' life during the time period in which she exhibited erratic behavior, such as speaking with an English accent, being photographed without underwear and appearing dazed in public. Additionally, Lutfi was very close to Spears when she was admitted to the hospital twice on a 5150 - an involuntary psychiatric hold in which a patient is deemed a danger to themselves or others.

The same day that Spears' parents filed the restraining order against Lutfi, Spears' father and attorney Andrew Wallet were appointed co-conservators of the singer's personal life and finances. According to Ingham, that power negates the need for a restraining order against Lutfi, as Spears' role as co-conservator allows him to decide who sees his daughter. Ingham added, "During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore."

Attorneys for Spears and her father are currently at Los Angeles Superior Court for hearings regarding the conservatorship and financial issues pertaining to Spears' estate and trust, as well as for the temporary restraining order against Lutfi. Though a decision has not yet been made to determine how much longer Spears' affairs will remain under her father's control, Ingham says that he does not expect her feelings about Lutfi to change. "If Mr. Lutfi makes any future attempt to contact Britney after the temporary conservatorship has concluded, Britney has made clear she will take all appropriate legal action," Ingham wrote.

Commisioner: "Ms. Spears Is Reluctantly Agreeing" To Extend Conservatorship

Britney Spears BSpearsHa062408.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' conservatorship has been extended until December 31, 2008, and Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz told the press today, "Ms. Spears is reluctantly agreeing to extend the conservatorship."

Spears' father Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet will remain co-conservators of the singers estate, trust and personal affairs, and there will be a hearing on October 28th to re-visit the conservatorship and check on her progress. Additionally, any discussion of the conservatorship being made permanent won't be addressed until the October court date, and the commissioner is leaving the option open to end the conservatorship early.

Britney Spears Restraining Order Against Sam Lutfi Is Over

Britney Spears BSPEARSGIFT110907.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The temporary restraining order against Osama "Sam" Lutfi has officially ended, and it will not be extended. Attorney Jeffrey Wexler, who represents Spears' father Jamie, issued the following statement to reporters today: "Mr. Spears and Mr. Lutfi have reached a private agreement and no hearing or order is necessary at this time." Wexler added that Spears would like to take the temporary restraining order off the calendar.

Yesterday, Spears' court appointed lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham told the Associated Press, "Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future." On February 1, 2008, Spears' parents Jamie and Lynne Spears filed a restraining order against Lutfi that required him to stay 250 yards away from Spears and her homes. The same day that Spears' parents filed the restraining order against Lutfi, Spears' father Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet were appointed co-conservators of the singer's personal life and finances. In a hearing today, it was decided that Spears' conservatorship would be extended until December 31, 2008, and Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz told the press, "Ms. Spears reluctantly agrees to extend the conservatorship." Britney Spears Nabs MTV Video Music Awards Nom

Britney Spears britvmas200.jpgNEW YORK, New York (X17online) - It looks like MTV will give Britney Spears a chance to redeem herself after last year's disastrous performance during the Video Music Awards. Spears video for "Piece of Me" is nominated for the top prize, video of the year.

The clip mocks her relationship with the tabloids and with the paparazzi, though Britney herself told X17 photographers, whom she invited into her home late last year, that she wasn't fond of the video (click here to read the story):

"I don't like the Piece of Me video," Brit said to our photogs. "The stuff they show of me on TV looks old."

She told X17online she wanted her new clip for "Hot As Ice" to be "something new" and fresh.

Britney Spears Eyeing A Performance At 2008 VMAs

Britney Spears BSpearsNEW0817_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears, along with several backup dancers, were spotted at Foresight Studios in Silverlake yesterday, sparking rumors that the pop singer is preparing for a performance at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

Last year, Spears, 26, performed at the awards show, but instead of making a comeback, the performance ended up being a disaster, which marked the beginning of her very public decline. Just five months later, Spears' father Jamie was appointed co-conservator of her personal life and estate, which has proven to be a wise decision. After two guest appearances on the hit CBS show How I Met Your Mother, as well as appearing in the promos for the VMAs, it seems as though Jamie Spears is attempting to revive his daughter's career, so it's entirely plausible that she could be doing more than just accepting awards at the 2008 ceremony.

Spears has been nominated for three awards, including Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video. The 25th annual MTV Video Music Awards air on MTV on Sept. 7, 2008, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Britney Spears' Custody Battle Cost Nearly Three Quarters Of A Million Dollars

Britney Spears BSpearsStudio081708_02.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears owes more than $466,000 in legal fees to the two law firms who represented her in the custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, according to the Associated Press. Additionally, Spears previously agreed to pay $250,000 to Federline's lawyers, bringing her total legal bill to around $716,000.

Attorney Stacy D. Phillips is seeking $407,000 for four months' worth of work on Spears' case, with an additional $125,000 being written off, while Laura Wasser, who took over the case in June, is seeking $60,000 for two months' work. Although Spears ultimately relinquished custody of her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, Wasser is credited with negotiating an agreement between Spears and Federline which allows the pop singer to spend more time with her two sons.

Any payments must be approved by a Los Angeles court commissioner, and attorneys representing Spears' and her father's interests stated last week in court that they intend to contest Phillips' bill.

'N Sync's JC Chasez Says Britney Spears Is Getting Her Life Back On Track

Britney Spears JCCHASEZ071007_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Former 'N Sync singer JC Chasez tells People Magazine Britney Spears is getting her life back on track, and making progress to revive her music career. Chasez says, "As far as Britney getting back in the studio, [it's] obviously a good thing. If she's doing what she loves – because she's had a love for music for such a long time – [then] I'm all for it."

Chasez adds, "I'm glad she's pulling it together, because everybody falls down in life at one time or another. The toughest part is, how do you pick yourself up again? It looks like she's on the path to doing that – and it's a good thing to see."

Earlier this year, Spears' life appeared to be spiraling out of control, and she was hospitalized twice on a 5150 - an involuntary psychiatric hold in which a patient is deemed a danger to themselves or others. On February 1, Spears' father Jamie was appointed co-conservator and given control of her personal life and finances, and since then, the singer has made tremendous progress getting her life back on track. Spears made two guest appearances on the hit CBS show How I Met Your Mother, and she recently earned three MTV VMA nominations.

More Details From Britney Spears Tell-All Book Revealed

Britney Spears BSPEARSOOPS051507_01.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - X17online already reported on the upcoming Britney Spears expose by Ian Halperin, and now the New York Times bestselling author has revealed more details in a recent interview.

Halperin went undercover as a photographer for 18 months when he wrote and researched Stalking Britney: Britney Under Siege, and he tells In Touch Weekly, “She’s on a high right now, but her life goes in circles. It’s like a roller coaster ride. She’s a person who is highly sensitive, and just one little thing could set her off.”

Halperin writes about how Britney attempted suicide four times after her split from ex-hubby Kevin Federline, and addresses her self-doubt and insecurities, which popped up in her early teen years. He tells the mag, “At 15, she had a huge breakdown and had to return home to Louisiana. She was very insecure and felt like she wasn’t pretty.” The solution? “She went on a huge diet.”

Though Britney has made remarkable progress over the past few months, and she's been photographed looking happier and healthier, Halperin believes she’s far from recovered. “There’s no doubt, based on the last two years, that she is a highly unstable person. She’s on a temporary high right now, but she’s never really dealt with all the problems she had. I don’t think it’s possible to turn over a new leaf just like that.”

Despite his somewhat pessimistic outlook, Halperin does say that Britney is a “good mother, and a good person...In fact, she’s nicer than most of the stars I’ve met. But as Britney once told me herself, her life has always been two steps forward, followed by one step back.”

Halperin has penned similar books about Celine Dion and Kurt Cobain, as well as exposes revealing the dark and dirty secrets of Hollywood, supermodels and other high-profile individuals.

Judge Delays Ruling On Britney Spears' Driving Without A License Case

Britney Spears BSpearsNEW0817_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele has delayed a decision on whether Britney Spears will stand trial for driving without a valid California license, according to the Associated Press. Spears’ attorney, Michael Flanagan, requested that the case be dismissed this morning, and Steele said he would review the case and statutes used to charge the pop singer before deciding whether to order a trial later this week.

Flanagan says Spears is being unfairly targeted due to her celebrity status, and that she had a valid Louisiana driver’s license when she was involved in an accident last year. Flanagan added that he will appeal if Steele does not dismiss the misdemeanor case.

A tentative trial date is scheduled for mid-October, and the preliminary hearing is set for September 16, 2008.

Lynne Spears Reveals More Of Britney Spears' Secrets In Tell-All Book

Britney Spears BSPEARSSHOP091004_001.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The National Enquirer obtained excerpts from the tell-all book written by Lynne Spears, and they report that the pop singer lost her virginity at age 14 to an 18-year-old high school football player, and that mother Lynne didn't seem to mind at all. Additionally, when Spears was with Justin Timberlake, Lynne knew the two Disney stars were having sex, but she was reportedly okay with it because she thought they were "in love."

In Through The Storm: A Real Tale Of Fame And Family In A Tabloid World, Lynne also reveals that she caught her daughter drinking at age 13, but apparently she didn't mind if her kids drank, as long as she was around. Spears allegedly began experimenting with drugs at age 15 when she was in LA recording her first album, and just a year later, the Enquirer reports that she was caught boarding a private plane with cocaine and marijuana in her bag.

Despite all her struggles over the years, Spears has made quite a comeback in the past few months, and she is even scheduled to open the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. Spears said in a statement yesterday, "MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated."

Britney Sweeps MTV's Video Music Awards

Britney Spears BSpears090708_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - After a disasterous performance last year, Britney Spears made her comeback at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, winning the night's top prizes for video of the year, best female video, and best pop video -- her first ever three Moon Men statues.

Spears appeared in advertisements for the awards show with the show's host Russell Brand. She also shot an introduction with Jonah Hill, in which the Superbad actor joked about dating her and tried numerous times to kiss the pop star. Her live, on-stage appearance which aired moments later, was less than spectacular, as Spears recited four simple lines: "Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now."

Rihanna then took the stage to perform Disturbia before Spears was back on stage to accept her first award of the night for video of the year for Piece of Me.

In her acceptance speech, she thanked god and her "two beautiful boys for inspiring [her] every day."

The show proceeded with Chris Brown picking up the award for best male video for With You. Best rock video went to Linkin Park for Shadow of the Day.

'Lil Wayne's Lollipop picked up best hip-hop video; while The Pussycat Dolls were recognized for best dancing in a video for When I Grow Up. German band Tokio Hotel won for best new artist.

Lynne and Britney Spears "Back To 4 Or 5 Phone Calls A Day"

Britney Spears BSpearsMomSt0711_04.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Though many reporters predicted Britney Spears might be upset that Lynne Spears had penned a tell-all book revealing some juicy details of their family life, it looks like mother and daughter are on good terms again. Lynne Spears tells People that her previously rocky relationship with her daughter "has undergone tremendous healing," and that the two are "back to four or five phone calls a day."

Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World covers the Spears family as they went from living a normal life in Louisiana to being thrust into the international spotlight. Though Britney and her brother Bryan haven't yet read the book, Lynne says, "Jamie Lynn loved the book. I started to cry because I told her, 'I wanted so much for you to like it.' And she got up and kissed me on the cheek and said, 'Mama, thank you so much.'"

Britney Spears Back In Court Tomorrow

Britney Spears BSpearsSexy091108_05.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears is scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles Superior Court tomorrow for hearings regarding both her astronomical legal fees as well as her driving without a license case.

Last month it was determined that Spears owed nearly three quarters of a million dollars to both her attorneys as well as those representing her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Spears' attorney Stacy D. Phillips is seeking $407,000 for four months worth of work on Spears' custody case, while Laura Wasser, who took over the case in June, is seeking nearly $60,000 for two months of work. Additionally, Spears previously agreed to pay $250,000 to Federline's lawyers, bringing her total legal bill to around $716,000. Any payments must be approved by the Los Angeles court commissioner, and attorneys representing Spears' and her father's interests stated last month that they intend to contest Phillips' bill. A hearing to discuss the legal fees has been set for tomorrow morning at 8:30am.

Additionally, there will be a preliminary hearing tomorrow morning for Spears' driving without a license case. Two weeks ago, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele delayed a decision on whether Spears would stand trial for driving without a valid California license, even though her attorney Michael Flanagan requested that the case be dismissed.

Files Sealed In Spears Case

Britney Spears britdadcourt.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Attorneys for Britney Spears' father Jamie met behind closed doors this morning with Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz regarding a petition to seal records in the pop star's conservatorship.

Attorneys Andrew Wallet and Geraldine Wyle, who represent Spears' father, told X17, "Britney is doing really well." But they provided no further information regarding the Commissioner's decision to grant a conditional sealing of the records to protect trade secrets related to the singer's career.

The attorneys said there would be no further statements made about today's hearing. An interim status hearing for Jamie Spears' conservatorship over his daughter's estate is scheduled for October 28; the conservatorship will expire or become permanent on December 31, 2008.

Britney's Mom Set's Record Straight

Lynne Spears Lynne200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) -Lynne Spears says her new memoir "Through the Storm" is her chance to "set it straight" about her famous daughter Britney.

In an interview on Wednesday's "Today" show, Spears reveals her family's life has been a "whirlwind" since Britney became one of pop music's biggest stars.

(CLICK HERE to watch the entire interview.)

Spears says her book is not a parenting book, but rather a chance to tell her side of the story.

"I wanted people to see my family as we are," she told Meredith Vieira.

Spears admitted she made mistakes during Britney's rise to fame, saying "It's kind of like Britney was sent out into the world a little bit prematurely," and admitted she wasn't with Britne as much as she would have liked. "Did I want to be there? Of course!" she said. "Was it feasible? It wasn't."

Lynne compared it to parents sending their kids to college. "You don't really know what they're doing in college ... just as Britney set out two years earlier to be a star."

Spears also talked about how fame had taken its toll on her daughter.

"There was that honeymoon period where it looked like she could do no wrong," Lynne said. "Then there's that ugly side of fame ... and we weren't ready for that."

But despite the difficulties of the past few years, Lynne says her daughter is now on the right track.

"She's strong. She's resilient. She's had some big bumps in the road, but Britney's fine. Britney is headed to the top once again, and I have no fears about Britney."

Britney's Lawyers Want Trial Stopped

Britney Spears BRITNEY_200.jpg

LOS ANGELES, California (X17Online) -Britney's lawyers have filed a "request for stay" in her misdemeanor driving without a license trial. Cops busted Britney for not having a California driver's license following a fender bender last year when she hit a parked car.

The lawyers are asking the Judge in the case to suspend the trial until the issue of Britney's conservatorship is resolved. They're also asking for the case to be dismissed, saying Brit should be allowed to pay a $10 fine and not face a criminal trial

The motion was filed this afternoon according to a source at the Los Angeles county courthouse. Her lawyers say this trial should be halted because Britney's condition doesn't allow her to "...participate meaningfully in her defense."

Britney father, Jaime Spears, has been in control of her personal and financial affairs since February.

Britney's 'Womanizer' Jumps to Number One

Britney Spears BritneyVMA_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' new single 'Womanizer' jumped 96 places to take over the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100. This is the first time Spears has held the top spot since her debut single "...Baby One More Time" in January 1999.

'Womanizer' made a record leap to the top, climbing 96 spots in one week.

Spears' single is spurred by first-week download sales of 286,000, the biggest opening-week tally by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital downloads in 2003, besting Mariah Carey's take for "Touch My Body" by just over 200 units.

In the 10-years since Britney's last No. 1, Spears has placed four other top 10s on the Hot 100, the last being "Gimme More," the first single from her last set, "Blackout."

Jury Selection Begins for Spears' License Trial

Britney Spears BRITNEY_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Jury selection began Wednesday for Britney Spears' driving without a license trial, as her attorney tried unsuccessfully once again to have the case thrown out.

Attorney J. Michael Flanagan has asked the court to have the misdemeanor charge, filed in August 2007, dismissed.

Flanagan has said the singer intends to fight the charge because she does not want any kind of criminal conviction, even a misdemeanor, on her record. If convicted, Spears could face a maximum of six months in jail but would more likely face a fine and probation, prosecutors said.

The case stems from an August 2007 incident in which Spears hit another car in a Los Angeles parking lot while being pursued by paparazzi. That part of the case was settled with the driver out of court a year ago.

But the singer was cited for driving with a license from her home state of Louisiana. She has since got her California license.

Jury Seated In Spears Trial

Britney Spears BritneySpearsDWL200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A jury has been seated in Britney's misdemeanor driving without a license trial. Four men and eight women have been chosen as jurors.

The case stems from an incident in the summer of 2007 when Britney side-swiped a parked car. At the time, she had a Louisiana driver's license, but not one issued by California.

This morning Britney's attorney J. Michael Flanagan asked potential jurors what they thought of the pop star. He asked them to rate her on a zero to ten scale with zero being "a train wreck" and ten being "talented." The majority of the jurors selected had a neutral opinion of Spears.

At one point, Flanagan asked a potential juror if she believed Britney had led "an unlawful life?" The juror responded, "Did you mean 'awful' life?"

One juror was dismissed after he described the trial as "a waste of time."

Testimony is expected to begin this afternoon with a representative from the DMV and a photographer who witnessed the incident taking the stand.

Spears Tried to Get Calif. License Attorney Says

Britney Spears BritneySpearsDWL200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) -Opening statements have begun in Britney's driving without a license trial inside a Van Nuys, California courtroom.

Her attorney, J. Michael Flanagan, came out firing, saying that Spears had actually tried to get a California driver's license on April 4th, 2007.

He also claims that Spears considers herself a resident of Louisiana, where she's reportedly building a new house, and that is why she kept her driver's license issued from that state.

After opening statements, the first witness called was an investigator from the DMV who was questioned about the pop star's driving record.

Spears' father Jaime is expected to be in court this afternoon, but it's unclear whether he'll take the stand.

Spears' Driver's License Case Goes To Jury

Britney Spears BritneyVMA_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A jury in Los Angeles failed to reach a verdict Friday in the pop singer's driving without a license case.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys made their final arguments Friday morning and the jury of eight women and four men began deliberations shortly thereafter.

Spears hit a parked car last year while driving in California on her Louisiana license. Her attorney says she didn't meet the state's residency requirements and was within the law.

But prosecutors say the 26-year-old had gotten married, had two children and filed for divorce in Los Angeles, and was ostensibly a California resident.

Spears did not attend any of the two-day trial.

Jury Deadlocked in Spears' Trial

Britney Spears BritneyVMA_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The jury deciding whether pop star Britney Spears is guilty of driving without a valid California driver's license is deadlocked.

"I understand that you cannot come to a unanimous decision," the judge said. He then instructed the jurors to resume deliberation.

Earlier in the day, jurors sent several notes to the judge asking for clarification.

The first note asked if the charges were that Spears did not have a valid driver's license or if she did not have a valid California license.

The second note asked the judge for the reason Spears was stopped (by the police) in the first place. The judge declined to answer the question saying it was irrelevant to the case.

Spears hasn't appeared in court and didn't testify during the trial.

Prosecutors allege Spears was obligated to obtain a California driver's license, but her attorney claims Spears' primary residence is in Louisiana and she was properly licensed by that state.

Still No Verdict in Britney Trial

Britney Spears BritneyTuesday200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - After nearly two days of deliberation, the jury deciding if Britney Spears is guilty of the misdemeanor charge of driving without a California license has yet to reach a verdict.

Tuesday morning the jury the jury asked to have Jamie Spears' (the singer's father) testimony read back to them.

Later both attorneys were granted five minutes to present additional closing arguments.

The charge stems from an Aug. 6, 2007, fender bender in a Studio City parking lot. She originally faced an additional count of hit and run, but the charge was dropped after she reached a civil settlement with the owner of the other vehicle.

Spears, 26, did not attend the trial. She faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor.

During the trial, an attorney for Spears argued that she was not required to carry a California license because she considers her native Louisiana her true home and held a valid Bayou State license at the time of the accident.

Mistrial Declared in Spears Trial

Britney Spears BritneySpearsMistrial200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The judge in Britney Spears' driving without a license case has declared a mistrial after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

Ten of the twelve jurors believed Spears was not guilty of the misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid California license when she side swiped a parked car last summer.

Tuesday morning the jury the jury asked to have the testimony of Spears' father Jamie read back to them.

Judge Dismisses Case Against Britney Spears

Britney Spears BritneyDismissed200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears will not face a retrial for allegedly driving without a California driver's license after a jury failed to reach a verdict.

The jury's deadlock could not be broken, even after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Steele allowed both sides to make additional closing arguments Tuesday morning. The jury's final vote was 10-2 in favor of acquittal.

The jury struggled with the case since resuming deliberations Monday, telling a judge they couldn't reach an unanimous decision after five votes going back to Friday. Steele thanked jurors for their time and dismissed them.

The deliberations lasted longer than the case itself, in which only three witnesses testified.

Jurors sent several questions to the judge before declaring themselves deadlocked.

One sought to clarify the charges against Spears, and whether she should be considered guilty if she possessed a valid Louisiana license, as her attorney has said she did.

The other: "Why was she stopped in the first place?" In fact, there was no traffic stop that precipitated the case; she was cited for hit-and-run and driving without a valid California license later, after video of the accident surfaced.

The defense argued that Spears didn't meet the state's residency requirements, and that her Louisiana license was all she needed to drive legally.

Defense and prosecution attorneys agreed that Spears was behind the wheel in California in August 2007. That kept jurors from hearing any mention of the hit-and-run — or any narrative elements to explain why she faced a criminal charge.

Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney Michael Amerian initially put up only one witness and entered one piece of evidence during the trial, showing that Spears did not have a valid California license more than a week after the accident.

The final witness was an X17 Photographer who, along with other shooters, tails Spears constantly and said she spends about 80 percent of her time in Los Angeles. Flanagan countered, however, that none of those things required Spears to get a California license.

Britney Spears BritneyPrisoner200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - In a candid interview, Britney Spears compares her life to a jail sentence and says her life feels like the Bill Murray movie "Groundhog Day."

The UK's Daily Mail reports that in an upcoming documentary for MTV, Spears says about her life: "There’s no excitement, there’s no passion."

"I have really good days, and then I have bad days. Even when you go to jail, y'know, there’s the time when you’re gonna get out.

'But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like Groundhog Day every day."

The paper reports Britney thinks she is still being forced to 'pay' for her well-documented meltdown.

Talking about her father Jamie's conservatorship, Spears says: "I think it’s too in control. If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear but they’re really not listening.

"If you do something wrong in your work, you can move on, but I’m having to pay for a long time."

In the 90 minute documentary titled "Britney: For The Record," Spears talks about her life over the past two years.

"I never wanted to become one of those prisoner people. I always wanted to feel free."

Spears also opens up about her divorce from husband Kevin Federline, losing custody of her kids Sean and Jayden and her well publicized mental breakdown.

Dance in particular is what Spears finds most therapeutic.

Britney: For The Record,

Britney Spears Britdoc200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' no holds barred documentary, "For the Record," aired last night on MTV, where, according to the network "no question went unanswered."

But perhaps the most pressing questions (are you sober? do you want your kids back? are you stable?) were never asked/

Watching Brit talk candidly about her breakups, her breakdown, her hard work, her time off and return to the spotlight (but don't call it a comeback) reminded us why the world fell in love with Spears ten years ago.

Although there's no doubt that Brit's in a better place now than she was last year, watching her go through the motions of her life, there was just this incredible sadness about her.

The only time it really let up was when we saw her dance, which was some of the best parts of the documentary.

Brit's well on her way back from the "mistakes" of the past, but is she happy again at last? Will she ever be?

Britney's Ex Says He Feared He'd Never See His Kids Again

Britney Spears KFEDKIDS200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Kevin Federline is talking about his life with ex-wife Britney Spears, and how he reacted to her very public breakdown.

In the new issue of People magazine, Federline says his two children, 3-year-old Sean and 2-year-old Jayden, were his biggest concern when he split from the pop star.

"My first question to [my lawyer] was, 'Am I ever going to be able to see my children?' I told him that I would spend every last dime that I had to make sure that my children are okay. That's all that mattered. I didn't know how much power Britney had. That really scared me," Federline told the magazine.

The former back-up dancer also said watching Spears' seemingly out-of-control downward spiral was difficult for him, particularly the night Spears locked herself in a closet with Jayden and was later taken to the hospital.

"That whole night is a blur. You want to talk about one of my lowest points of depression, that was probably one of them," Federline revealed. "I was very, very worried for her 'cause I care about her. That's the mother of my children. Just because I'm not in love with her doesn't mean that I don't love her."

But despite their past, Federline is still very supportive of Britney.

"I'm definitely rooting for her," Federline said. "There's nothing more that I want than for her to be in the best health and doing what she loves to do."

PETA Targets Britney's 'Circus'

Britney Spears BCircusPETA.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' new video "Circus" is drawing fire from People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals for using what the group says are cruelly trained lions and elephants.

PETA says it even sent a letter to Spears explaining in graphic detail how trainers shock, whip, and beat exotic animals into performing.

The controversial group posted an action alert and a special blog post on its Web site asking people to contact Spears and demand that she stop using exotic animals in her videos and concerts once and for all.

Steve Martin's Working Wildlife, which supplied the lions used in the video, has been cited repeatedly by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for failing to comply with the Animal Welfare Act, including failure to provide veterinary care, failure to provide shelter from the elements, failure to provide minimum space, and filthy cages, according to PETA.

"Britney may think her life is a circus, but for the animals who are whipped, chained, and beaten to perform under the real big top, the cruelty is very real," says PETA Director Debbie Leahy.

"She may be headed for a comeback, but when it comes to animals, she still can't get her act together."

Spears hasn't commented on PETA's allegations.

Although there has been no official confirmation from either camp, the newspaper quotes a source as saying that choreographers have been asked to create an "out-of-this-world" dance routine for Britney and Madonna.

"When Britney joined Madonna on stage for her Hard Candy [Sticky & Sweet] tour it was very sedate. This is going to be a high energy dance routine - getting back to what they are both good at, performing," the source said.

Britney and K-Fed Meet To Talk About The Kids

Britney Spears BritKevin200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - X17online has learned that Britney's father, Jamie Spears, met with Kevin Federline to discuss creating a visitation arrangement for the couple's two sons.

The meeting took place on Sunday at Britney's new home in a gated neighborhood in Calabasas, Calif.

With an upcoming world tour, Federline and Spears reportedly are trying to work out an arrangement so that Britney can see the kids on a regular basis.

Britney's father reportedly arranged the meeting.

Federline was awarded full custody of Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, last year - while Jamie Spears serves as custodian of Britney's personal and business affairs.

One possibility would have Federline traveling with Britney while she tours in support of her new album "Circus."

Britney is said to be eager to work out a plan that doesn't keep her away from her children for long periods of time.

Spears Says She'll Cancer Tour If Kids Can't Come

Britney Spears SpearsKidsTour200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears will reportedly cancel her upcoming tour if Kevin Federline's attorneys continue to block an agreement allowing her to take the kids with her while she's on the road, according to TMZ.

Britney, her father Jamie and K-Fed have been trying to work things out for weeks, and the initial plan called for "home bases" in New Jersey, New Orleans and Los Angeles.

Sean Preston and Jayden James would stay in one of these three spots, and Spears would commute back and forth while doing shows in each part of the country.

Well, as with most things Britney related, here's the problem: Brit, K-Fed and Jamie worked out the arrangement without the help of any lawyers, and when K-Fed's legal team found out about the plan they were not pleased.

Sources tell TMZ K-Fed's lawyers object to the plan but won't say why, and K-Fed apparently "doesn't have the [courage] to stand up to his lawyers."

More Legal Troubles For Spears' Former Friend, Manager

Britney Spears AdnadBritney200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - On Monday a judge is set to review the temporary restraining orders Britney Spears' father got against her former manager Sam Lutfi and boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

Meanwhile, Brit's former boy toy could have more legal problems to deal with. According to Radaronline.com, investigators looking into the allegations that Adnan tried to run over a process server with his car plan to hand the case over to the District Attorney's office next week.

According to a law enforcement source, Adnan hasn't exactly been cooperating with the investigation.

"We haven't been able to contact Mr. Ghalib regarding the incident. It's up to the District Attorney whether to reject, or accept the case, ask for more information, or refer to the City Attorney," the source said.

The former paparazzi could be charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.

Jamie Spears Served With Lawsuit

Jamie Spears JamieGetsServed200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' father, Jamie, has been served with a lawsuit filed by the pop singers' former manager, X17online has learned.

A process server delivered a copy of the suit to the elder Spears at his home in the San Fernando Valley.

Mr. Spears did not say anything to the process server, he accepted the documents and then got into his car.

X17online first reported the details of the suit filed by Sam Lutfi, who served as Britney's manager and confidant for several months in 2008.

Lutfi is suing Jamie, Lynne and Britney Spears claiming breach of contract, defamation and assault. Sam claims that he owed more than $800K for the months he spent as Brit's manager. He also alleges that Lynne ruined his reputation in her book "Through the Storm" in which she says she believed Sam drugged Britney and kept her isolated from her family.

Jamie Spears Asks For Permanent Restraining Orders

Britney Spears BritneyRestrainingOrder200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spear's father, Jamie, is expected in a Los Angeles to ask a judge to make restraining orders permanent against the pop singer's former boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib and former manager, Sam Lutfi.

However, X17online has learned that the court will not rule on the restraining orders until Wednesday.

Radaronline reports that Britney Spears will not be in court today.

"She is focusing on her upcoming tour and doesn't need to be there as there is enough overwhelming evidence for the commissioner to review without her being there," a source tells Radar.

Mr. Spears asked for the restraining orders because he felt that his daughter's physical and mental well being were in jeopardy because Britney had been talking to Lutfi and Ghalib.

A restraining order has also been requested against attroney John Eardley. Eardley had contacted Britney offering legal advice to have the conservatorship she is under removed.

Britney Spears' Father Calls Lutfi A 'Predator'

Britney Spears JamieTestifies200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, asked a court to extend restraining orders against his daughter's former boyfriend and manager.

The elder Spears called Britney's former manager Osama "Sam" Lutfi a "predator" and once again alleged that Lutfi had drugged his daughter and said he thought he was a danger to his family.

Spears was also questioned as to whether he was aware of a recent phone conversation between his daughter and Lutfi made on a prepaid cell phone given to the pop singer.

Mr. Spears said he monitors his daughter's cell phone access and was unaware of the contact.

Lutfi's attorney said after the hearing that the testimony failed to demonstrate that a restraining order was necessary against his client.

"A restraining order is for severe harassing conduct that causes substantial emotional distress," Attorney Bryan Freedman said, adding that Spears' testimony "doesn't remotely come close to that."

A judge is set to rule on the restraining orders on Wednesday.

Lutfi, Ghalib and Britney Spears did not appear during Monday's hearing.

Britney’s Hairdresser: Britney Says She’s “Scared of Sam”

Britney Spears BritAfraidSam200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Roberta Romero, Britney Spears' personal hair stylist, testified in court on Wednesday that Sam Lutfi called and text messaged her numerous times trying to reach the pop star.

According to the LA Times, Romero says she hid Lutfi's messages from Spears. The messages included everything from the boring: "Can you wish her a merry Christmas for me?" to the bizarre: "I've done everything I can to free her from this. Very close to getting her free now."

"She told me she is scared of him," Romero recalled Spears saying when she found out about the messages.

A Judge is deciding whether a temporary restraining order that prevents Lutfi from contacting Spears should be extended, which is what her father (and conservator) Jamie wants.

Britney's Comeback Slowed By Poor Ticket Sales

Britney Spears SpearsCircusTour200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears is "determined" to make a success of her forthcoming Circus tour, which begins tomorrow in New Orleans despite less than stellar ticket sales so far.

"She's pretty determined," a friend of the singer told People.com. "She missed singing and performing and the freedom of that. It gives her an escape and it's what she loves to do, so she's definitely thankful to be doing that again."

But the question remains as to whether her fans are willing to spend their money to see Spears in these troubled economic times.

"Group sales are down considerably, and then you've got individual tickets that cost as much as $500 apiece. That's a lot of money to spend on an artist who isn't a sure bet right now," an insider told Monsters&Critics.

The source added: "She's worked really, really hard to make this good. Granted, there have been some hiccups along the way, but she's going to put on a good show. I just hope there are people there to see it. This is really her last chance."

Meantime, Spears album "Circus" has already been certified platinum by the RIAA, but has seen a slump recently after debuting at number one in December. Her last album "Blackout" debuted in second place on Billboard Magazine's album charts, but quickly faded when Spears was unable to promote the album due to personal problems.

Rave Reviews After Sneak Peak At Britney's Tour

Britney Spears SpearsCandeesTour200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears gave a preview performance of her upcoming "Circus" Tour for a select group of family and friend in New Orleans over the weekend.

In the audience of about 30 or so were Spears' mother, Lynn, her father, Jamie, sister Jamie-Lynn with daughter Maddie, and sons, Sean Preston and Jayden.

Although a source at the show says Brit was way nervous before going on, "she got such positive feedback that she’s a lot more confident about her performance."

According to tour insiders, Britney may be joined by a surprise guest for the tour's opening night. “The rumor going around is that Madonna is going to join Brit onstage for at least two tour dates,” a source tells the New York Daily News. “And that would be totally fierce.”

Larry Rudolph Reveals Spears' 'Circus' Tour Details

Britney Spears SpearsCircusDetails200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - With Britney Spears set to begin her first tour in five years tonight in New Orleans, her manager Larry Rudolph says fans can expect a "pop extravaganza" on stage.

Speaking by phone from Louisiana, Rudolph told Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio program, Spears "ran the show twice yesterday, actually, once until about 2 or 3 in the morning last night and it was amazing."

"She goes full speed through the whole thing ... it's about an hour and a half. There's only one time where it slows down - two ballads in the middle - but the rest is pretty fast," Rudolph said.

"This is a full-on, full-out, big Britney Spears show. It is a pop extravaganza. It is everything that everybody would expect from her and more."

Seacrest asked Rudolph if Spears was nervous before tonight's big event.

"Before these kinds of things she always has a little bit or nervous energy. But she has a way of channeling it. It's sort of like I've said to her sometimes, 'if you were on a football team and you were going to the Super Bowl, they would want you to be their quarterback.' Because when it comes to game day, no one brings it like she does. She's got that little bit of nervous energy and she just directs it into the most amazing show you can possibly imagine," he said.

So how is Spears preparing for the big night?

"She'll probably sleep late today. She doesn't have her kids with her today. She'll probably sleep in until early afternoon, get up, have breakfast, probably go to the venue around 4 or 4:30, something like that. Go there, spend a little time and relax, then hair and makeup probably around 6 or 7 and then stage thereafter," Rudolph said.

Rudolph says having Spears two children with her on tour is helping the formerly troubled pop star stay focused.

"I think the boys give her amazing inspiration and amazing strength, they really do. It's actually been a great thing watching her with them throughout this whole process."

Britney's Back! But Spears' Circus Tour Gets Average Reviews

Britney Spears brittour200.jpgNew Orleans, LOUISIANA (X17online) - Jugglers, acrobats, martial artists, oh my! Britney Spears' first tour in five years opened in New Orleans last night and while fans seemed to be more than satisfied with Spears' three-ring "Circus," critics had a few complaints.

Spears' show had four acts: "Circus," "House of Fun," "Freakshow/Peepshow," and "Electro Circ." It was a flurry of costumes and set changes, dancers and performers and most reviewers of the show thought it was too much.

She opened with "Circus" and "Piece of Me" as she was lowered onto the stage in a cage, then she went on to perform "Radar" as a pole dance in a sexy bra get-up. Then "Everytime," a ballad, was done from swing hanging over the stage, which was one of the more intimate moments the performer had with the audience.

The "Freakshow" portion of the show was real chaos with so many people on stage you could hardly even find Britney amid the orgy of performance artists and dancers. When she performed "I'm a Slave 4 U," the crowd went wild.

An exhausted Spears ended the night with "Womanizer" and a reprise of "Circus," giving the crowd just what they wanted.

Here's what some of the reviewers said ...

from MTV.com:

At times, Britney herself is almost dwarfed by the spectacle. She looks great in her myriad of outfits (Genie! Drill Sergeant! Kinda Stripper!) And she can still move with the best of them ... it's just, well, she's almost lost in the sheer hugeness of the production around her ... And by the time she said good night ... she looked exhausted. But happy. And why not? She brought the circus to her hometown, and it was a huge, sold-out, screaming success. It probably just would've benefited from a little more Britney Spears, that's all.

from the AP:

The "Circus" tour was another strong step in the right direction. Spears didn't interact much with the crowd — the only thing she uttered to the audience was "Thank you, New Orleans" at the end of the nearly two-hour show — and appeared at times to be lip-synching. But fans didn't seem to care, screaming wildly at the first sight of Spears, who descended from the ceiling on hoops suspended by wires, wearing a short red and black ringmaster ensemble."

from USA Today:

Finally, it was just her grinding away with a muscleman. And there was music involved as well ... en the massive size of the center stage (painted to look like a target — we get it, Brit) and the non-stop visual and sonic bombast, the pop princess sometimes got swallowed up.

from People.com:

Don't call it a comeback quite yet. Britney Spears still isn't all the way there.

From Us Weekly:

Even though Spears didn't interact much with the audience (and appeared to be lip-synching at times), fans went wild as she performed hits like "Womanizer" (in a cop costume) and her classic "Baby One More Time."

If Spears herself is right, she'd say this isn't a "comeback," but that she never left. Still, her future as a performer will no doubt be defined by the success of this tour. Most shows are still not sold out though ticket sales are strong. Months from now, when it's all over, the public will have to decide whether Britney is still their Queen B or not.

Will Jamie Lose Control Of Britney?

Britney Spears SpearslosingControl200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - While many were concerned that the demands of a tour would be too much for Britney Spears to handle, however sources close to the pop singer reveal that she's doing so well she may soon be able to once again take over control of her personal and business affairs.

"Britney is in a terrific place right now," a source tells RadarOnline. "She absolutely loves being back on tour."

Spears' father Jamie, who controls her affairs as her conservator, had initial reservations about the tour to support her new album "Circus."

"He wasn't a big supporter of her going on the road, he didn't want her to take on too much, too soon," the source said. But "Britney was absolutely adamant that she be allowed to go on tour. She assured her family, and management that she was ready to do this, and that she really needed to do this."

Radar reports that Jamie Spears may be forced to give up some, if not all, of the control that he now holds over Britney.

"This was the plan all along, to slowly get her back to the routine of her life, it (the conservatorship) won't last longer than it needs to," the source said. "Success will be achieved when this conservatorship ends, and Britney is ready to resume full control of her life."

Spears Says Lutfi's Lawsuit Has "No Basis In Fact"

Britney Spears JSpearsSuit200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - On Monday, Jamie and Lynne Spears filed a motion to strike a large portion of the libel and defamation suit filed by Brit's former manager, Sam Lutfi.

In documents filed in Los Angeles, the Spears' attorneys call Sam's suit "a calculated attempt to exploit the court system" by repeatedly inserting "false, scurrilous narratives" that have "no basis in fact."

Describing the suit as "a fanciful public relations press release," Spears' attorneys want a judge to throw out allegations that are "irrelevant, false or improper."

Among the allegations Spears hopes to have removed, "Britney Jean Spears ("Britney") is one of the most recognizable and highest paid celebrities in the world. Ever since she burst onto the scene as a pop superstar, ever aspect of her life and , more importantly, her fortune, has been controlled by her parents, James Parnell Spears (a/k/a Jamie Spears) and Lynne Irene Spears. However in late 2006 and early 2007, when Britney's life was, very publicly, spiraling out of control, Jamie and Lynne failed to offer their fragile daughter the guidance or emotional support she desperately needed. Rather, they saw her very personal and public struggles as an opportunity to gain even more control over Britney and her fortune."

Other allegations include Britney's parents used her breakdown to their advantage:
"Neither Jamie nor Lynne offered Britney any support as she suffered the embarrassment and humiliation of public ridicule. Rather, they saw the rumors and tabloid reports as a means by which they could force their way back into Britney's life and regain control of her fortune under the guise of concern for Britney's well being."

A hearing is set for April 9th.

Long Term Restraining Order To Keep Adnan Away From Britney

Adnan Ghalib GhalibTRO0319_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A judge is set to issue a long-term restraining order that would prohibit Britney Spears' ex, Adnan Ghalib from being anywhere near the pop star.

Spears' father Jamie is the one who asked for the protection order, according to the Associated Press.

Ghalib was apparently a no-show at a hearing on Wednesday and hasn't filed an objection to the restraining order, which would make it illegal for Adnan to contact Britney for as long as three years.

Jamie Spears believes Adnan, along with Britney's former manager Sam Lutfi, have tried to undermine his role as conservator of his daughter's personal and business affairs.

Britney Spears BritneyNJHouse200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears and her two children have settled into a home in suburban New Jersey for East Coast leg of her "Circus" tour, Life&Style Magazine reports.

The home in Alpine, NJ is being leased by Spears' record company for the next month.

According to a local real estate agent, the home is a good fit for a young family.
“It’s very spacious, so there’s lots of room for her kids to run around and play,” the broker told Life & Style. “The colonial-style home has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and two half baths. It has an understated elegance, with high ceilings and lots of bright light.”

The house is being leased at a cost of $30,000 per month. The home is also for sale, the owner's are asking $8 million, however Britney is not expected to stay more than a month.

Does Britney Want Restraining Order For Lutfi?

Britney Spears Britney Spears JspearsCourtNew200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Jamie Spears' attorney Blair Berk and Sam Lutfi's sister Christina appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday afternoon, each giving different accounts as to whether Britney is in favor of a restraining order being issued against Lutfi.

"[Britney] told me she wanted to get a hold of Sam. She wanted him to help her find a lawyer, and wanted someone to get a prepaid cell phone to her. She was scared because her father was blackmailing her with visitation rights over her kids," Lutfi's sister told the court.

Britney reportedly called Sam in mid-January to speak with Christina, and the two arranged a meeting at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 16. Britney was able to escape her bodyguard for a clandestine meeting in the hotel's sauna.

It was then that Christina gave Britney a cell phone, saying it was from Sam and ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. Christina said Britney asked her, "Will Sam be able to help me?"

However, Blair Berk testified of Britney's desire to keep Sam out of her life, saying, “She repeatedly asked if I could get him arrested for what he’d done to her and get the court to order him to stay away from her."

According to Access Hollywood, Berk also claimed that Lutfi threatened to release embarrassing information about Britney and her dad if Berk did not stop such information being released about him.

The court will hear closing arguments for the case on Tuesday April 21st, and the restraining order against Sam has been extended until then as well.

Spears eventually returned to the stage and completed her performance.

After performing the final encore, Spears headed offstage telling the crowd, “Thanks Vancouver. You were wonderful. Drive safe. Don’t smoke weed!"

Sam Lutfi Ordered To Stay Away From Britney

BrtSPEARS110907_01.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A restraining order has issued against Britney Spears' former manager Osama "Sam" Lutfi.

Spears' former confidant must now stay at least 100 yards away from Spears and her children. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Aviva Bobb also banned Lutfi from contacting Spears in any manner.

Spears' father, Jamie, has called Lutfi "a predator." Lutfi has claimed that he is trying to help the pop singer free herself from her controlling father and vowed to appeal the ruling.

"Never before in the history of the world has a restraining order been issued against someone who did nothing more than answer a cry for help," Lutfi's attorney Bryan Freedman said after the ruling.

A second restraining order was issued against attorney Jon Eardley, who claims Britney Spears hired him to represent her.

Both orders will be in effect until 2012.

SpearsPoleDancingLondon200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - As Britney prepares to bring her hugely successful Circus Tour to London in June, the UK's Daily Mail is reporting the pop singer has asked the posh Dorchester Hotel to install a stripper pole in her suite.

Friends claim she won't be using it to seduce a new boyfriend, and that the pole will have a more practical use.

"Britney loves pole dancing, it's her new favorite workout," a source tells the paper.

"She gets the toning that she needs without having to hit the gym, and she wants to be able to do it in the privacy of her own hotel room," the source adds.

SpearsFanStage200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears appeared visibly shaken after a male fan ran onstage during a performance in Connecticut this weekend.

During an encore performance of Spears' hit "Womanizer," a man ran up on stage, coming face to face with Britney.

Dancers and security quickly removed the man and Spears continued the performance without interruption.

The man, Kyle King, 20, was arrested for breach of peace and released after posting a $250 bond.

Britney Spears's Former Manager Seeks Jury Trial To Reverse Restraining Order

lutfitrial.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' former manager and friend, Sam Lutfi, and lawyer Jon Eardley have filed legal papers contesting the restraining orders filed against them by Spears and her family.

Lutfi and Eardley claim that their case should have been heard by a jury of their peers, and the two are asking for a new trial.

A judge granted Spears extended restraining orders against the two men on April 28 when it was decided the temporary orders would turn into three-year orders. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aviva K. Bobb ordered Osama "Sam" Lutfi and attorney Jon Eardley to stay away from the 27-year-old pop singer and to not contact, threaten or try to act on her or her sons' behalf for the next three years.

Lutfi's attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, has said evidence points to Spears asking his client for help.

Jamie Spears and his attorneys requested the lengthy restraining orders against the men in January, arguing that the pair were conspiring along with paparazzo Adnan Ghalib to undermine the conservatorship.

In March, Bobb issued a three-year restraining order against Ghalib, who dated Spears for a period last year.

Former Bodyguard Sues Britney

SpearsSued200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A man who once worked as a security guard for Britney Spears is suing the pop star claiming her negligence caused him personal injury.

Kerry M. Vine filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday. He's seeking more than $25,000 for injuries that were not disclosed.

The suit claims Vine was injured due to Spears' "extreme/outrageous conduct" that caused "severe emotional distress."

Vine has two other lawsuits currently pending. He's suing the Burbank airport for discrimination and he's filed suit against Starz Entertainment claiming the Robert De Niro film "A Badge of Deception" was based on a screenplay that he wrote.

Neither Spears, nor the former bodyguard has made any comment about the lawsuit.

Britney, along with her kids, father and rumored boyfriend, Jason Trawick, were spotted at a water park in the island nation on Wednesday.

The group got a private tour and had the chance to swim with the parks dolphins.

Britney appears far healthier than she did last year. With a trimmed down figure in sharp contrast to the pictures that surfaced of her looking bloated and out of shape last summer.

Britney's A Bridesmaid At Cousin's Wedding

SpearsBridesmaid200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears, who's twice been a bride herself, was a bridesmaid at her cousin's wedding in Louisiana this weekend.

The pop star, along with other members of her family, were there as her cousin Laura Lynne Covington walked down the aisle of the First United Methodist Church in Amite, Louisiana.

Despite her superstar status, Britney made sure not to draw attention away from the bride.

One witness reported that Spears sat at a table off to the side and visited with family and friends at the reception.

Britney is scheduled to continue her "Circus" tour later this year in Europe.

X17 Xclusive - On The Set Of Britney's New Video

BritneyRadar200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - X17online spotted Britney Spears on the set of her latest music video in Santa Barbara on Thursday.

The shoot for new single "Radar" took place on a beautiful equestrian property and had a "town and country" theme.

"Britney seemed very relaxed," a spy tells X17online exclusively. "She definitely seemed to be back in work-mode after all the touring."

While most of Spears' videos feature elaborate choreography and dance routines, Britney wasn't showing off any of her moves, according to the spy.

"It seems this clip might be purely ‘acting’ for Brit and not the choreography we’re used to seeing. And even though the lyrics are pretty sexy about having some guy on her ‘radar,’ we never saw her ripping a guy’s clothes off or anything – and horses just don’t seem that sexy. I’m curious to see how they’re gonna edit this one!”

Britney Spears Still Spending Time Together

jasonbrit200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears is still spending time with her agent Jason Trawick of CAA, outside of the workplace as X17 photographers spotted the two in Calabasas this weekend at Starbucks.

There has been much speculation surrounding the couple's relationship, suggesting the two may be more than friends.

Trawick accompanied Spears to a party at Paris Hilton's house in November 2006 and as the two were leaving, he cuddled Spears in his arms, laughing. The next day, the two were seen, in the same clothes, at a Santa Monica children's store buying supplies for Spears son.

Trawick went along with Spears and her father to Costa Rica where the group stayed in Mel Gibson's beach home. They were recently together in the Bahamas on another bikini-filled vacation.

All of this intimate time together has left many wondering if these two are more than just business associates. X17online's new photos probably won't help to end this speculation!

Brits Are No Fans Of Brit's Circus

BadBritTour200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Despite overwhelming fan support, the British media is bashing Britney's first stop on the European leg of her Circus tour.

And even though Brit's added some new remixes and songs to her line-up since her hugely successful US tour, the initial reviews have not been kind.

The Sun said: "[Britney is] completely uninspiring... A girl walking around, flicking her hair and miming to some average pop songs."

The Daily Telegraph said: "Lipsynced, auto-tuned and double tracked, her vocals are as unashamedly pre-recorded as her backing tracks. It's the most perfectly plastic pop show ever staged."

At least the Daily Mail was charitable. Noting how Britney has overcome many of her past troubles, the paper called Spears pop music's most "remarkable comeback."

Spears Settles Lawsuit With Former Manager

SpearsSuitWright200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears has a settled a lawsuit filed by her former manager Johnny Wright who claimed he was owed a percentage of the pop singer's income.

The suit alleged that the agreement entitled Wright to be paid by Spears until 2008. However, Spears stopped paying Wright in 2006. The pair actually stopped working together in 2003.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, however it's likely the sum will be revealed in statements related to Spears' conservatorship.

The court also approved the payment of $193,000 to the attorneys who handled the case.

Britney Officially Dating Her Agent

BritneyDatingJason200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Several online sources are confirming what X17online photographs have shown for months, that Britney Spears is dating her agent Jason Trawick.

X17online first spotted them together way back in November of '06 at Paris Hilton's B-Day bash, and became aware of the relationship when when Jason was with Britney on her vacation in Costa Rica. You can't convince us this is just a professional relationship.

More recently X17online spotted Jason and Britney driving around LA, hitting the beach in the Bahamas, and at Starbucks.

The relationship apparently has the approval of Britney's father Jamie.

Restraining Order Issued For Britney Spears Stalker

SpearsTROstalker200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A temporary restraining order was issued today against Miranda Tozier-Robbins, a woman caught trespassing on Britney Spears' Calabasas property last April, E! News reports.

Tozier-Robbins, 26, was intitially due to be arraigned this morning on two misdemeanor charges, but the hearing was put off for one week when she showed up over two hours late to a Malibu courthouse.

Los Angeles Superior Judge Jay Ford III issued a bench warrant for Tozier-Robbins' arrest, but recalled it when she finally arrived at the courthouse. Ford also waived the $5,000 bail under the agreement that Tozier-Robbins will return to her hearing next week.

Spears was not present at the hearing. The pop star is currently on tour in the UK.

Spears and Trawick went shopping yesterday in Calabasas, when Spears inadvertently flashed a ring on her ring finger, to photographers. Reports speculate the ring could be an engagement ring from Trawick but X17 has photographed Spears with the ring many times before.

Britney's Conservatorship Could End After Tour

conservatorshipending200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears could soon better getting back control of her finances and personal life.

According to TMZ, Brit's dad Jamie will ask the court to review the details of the conservatorship in November following the completion of her Circus tour.

Jamie is apparently quite impressed with the progress his daughter has made in the last year and a half and thinks she's ready to go it on her own again.

In fact, the main reason the conservatorship may still be in effect is that her tour backers insisted on it.

Now, Jamie can't ask the court to end the conservatorship - just review it. It will be up to a judge to decide if Britney is ready to take control of her life back.

Britney Spears' Mother Thinks Jason Trawick Is The One

britjasonus200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears and manager/boyfriend Jason Trawick certainly aren't as hot and heavy as some of the pop star's other relationships, but maybe that's a good thing.

We've heard that Britney's father Jamie approves of Jason, and it looks like mother Lynne Spears is in agreement as well. A source tells Us Weekly, "Lynne said, 'He's the kind of man you would dream of your daughter marrying. The kids love him, and he's stable.' Most everyone else abandoned her, but Jason refused to be completely cut out of Britney's life. He's very protective of her."

The source continued, "[Britney] has been honest with Jason about what she’s been through in a way that I don’t think she’s been with other people, and he always preferred to not sugarcoat the harsh reality of what happened to her. He tells her when she should take responsibility for her own actions."

Britney Barely Arrives In Australia And Already Causing Controversy!

britdownunder200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears has only just arrived in Australia to begin her down under tour of Circus, but she's already causing controversy over charging up to $1300 for VIP seats to a show that's largely lip-synched.

"Longest flight ever but we had a great time. Really cool plane and the V staff took great care of us. So excited to be here! -Britney" Brit tweeted Thursday morning (Aussie time.)

But in the wake of her exorbitant ticket prices and the reveleation that she'll be lip-synching for most of her show, the Australian government is contemplating a law that will require performers to disclose the fact that they're singing less than live on the ticket.

Consumer Affairs Minister Tony Robinson told the Herald Sun, "We believe it is good business practice for concert promoters to make it clear to consumers before they buy tickets whether the performer will be miming, and make this clear on advertising, posters and other promotional materials." Robinson also said that concert promoters could be prosecuted if they implied stars were singing live when they weren't!

No offense to the Aussies, but after about a year on tour, if they didn't realize Brit was lip-synching, then I have a bridge I can sell them ...

Britney Spears Australia Lip Sync Controversy Continues

bspearslipsync.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears' lip syncing was causing controversy In Australia even before she arrived for the Pacific leg of her Circus tour and now Spears is reportedly feeling the backlash.

Ticket prices are as much as $1300 for VIP seats and now that Spears has performed her first few dates Down Under, fans and critics are getting even more vicious about the quality of her show, causing Spears to become "extremely upset," according to reports.

Australia's Daily Telegraph reports that Spears holed up in her Perth hotel after fans walked out on her "lackluster" performance over the weekend (a claim her promoter, Paul Dainty, flat-out denies.)

"Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset about it," Dainty told The Australian. "She's a human being," he continued. "I'm embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting."

Fans have come to Spears' defense on her website, posting several messages of encouragement about her shows down under. Even John Mayer defended the pop princess, tweeting, "If you're shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you."

Plus, she's got something to look forward to -- Brit's boys are reportedly set to join their mom down under!

Britney Gets Caught In A Web Of Paparazzi Chaos

britneyhair200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Yesterday afternoon Britney Spears did some Christmas shopping on Robertson, hitting up stores like Lisa Kline Kids, and midway through the retail adventure we caught her sporting a spiderweb poncho. Britney appeared to be in a great mood, and she clearly spent some time getting ready before she went out. An X17 photographer on the scene tells X17online, "Britney looked like she wanted to be photographed - she did her hair and makeup and we caught her smiling several times. We were very surprised that she chose to shop on Robertson, as she knew there would be tons of photographers there snapping her picture."

Our X17 photog on the scene tells X17online exclusively, "The photographer dropped her phone, and Jason kicked it out of the way when he walked by! He was acting very aggressive and bystanders seemed shocked by his behavior."

After shopping on Robertson and showing off her short new hairstyle, Britney and her bodyguard headed to the closest Starbucks for an early evening pick-me-up. But rather than ordering her coffee and leaving, Britney took a time out in the bathroom and called the police, demanding that they escort her to her car.

Britney's Grammy Dress Lands Her On Worst Dressed List

britneygrammys200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britney Spears created the ultimate fashion faux-pas by wearing fishnet over fishnet for her appearance at the 2010 Grammy awards.

Spears arrived late so as to skip the red carpet, but we're wondering if that wasn't intentional so she wouldn't have to answer questions about her bizarre dress!

At least she looked happy with her choice (even if the rest of us weren't), beaming as she held tightly to beau Jason Trawick's arm entering the venue.

Britney lost out on the Grammy for Best Dance Recording last night to Lady GaGa.

Kevin Federline Defends Britney Spears Regarding Lawsuit

kfed200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Kevin Federline, Britney Spears' ex, says Fernando Flores' sexual-harassment claims are "fabricated."

On behalf of Federline, his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan tells the Associated Press:

"He is satisfied that the allegations are a product of economic motives. They are as baseless as they seem."

Flores claims Spears exposed herself to him numerous times while he was her bodyguard, and in a few alleged instances, he says she abused Sean Preston with a belt.

K-Fed currently has custody of both Sean Preston and Jayden James, and his lawyer says the father of two took the abuse allegations very seriously. However, an investigation into the matter turned up nothing.

Federline and Spears split back in 2006 after two years of marriage.

JustinBieber080911.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Justin Bieber is joining forces with Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Kanye West and over 150 other stars to use social media to bring attention to the drought and food crisis in East Africa.

They will take to their Facebook and Twitter pages on August 9 in support of Save the Children's new campaign. The music, sports, fashion and pop culture stars goals is to reach their combined 730 million fans and followers to raise awareness to the tragedy.

The campaign features the 1973 Bob Marley song "High Tide or Low Time," picked specifically by the Marley family. The singer's widow Rita Marley said:

"Not one child should be denied food nor water. Not one child should suffer. Along with Save the Children, we must stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives."

Save The Children is a non-profit organization that raises funds for food, water and medicine for impoverished children in the United States and around the world. They are working with agencies to deliver aid across East Africa, especially in Somalia where one million children are facing starvation if they do not receive food immediately.

China Bans Lady Gaga And Beyoncé, Among Others

ladygaga200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - China’s Ministry of Culture has posted a list of 100 songs that will be banned in the country beginning September 15, including Lady Gaga’s “Judas” and Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls).”

The ministry is demanding that the songs be removed from Chinese websites because they had not been submitted for mandatory government screening, which is intended to protect China’s “national cultural security” by filtering out imported entertainment content that contains subversive political or ideological messages.

Sites that do not comply with the new rule will be prosecuted, though the penalties were not specified.

Other songs on the ban list include: Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night,” and Britney Spears’s “Burning Up.”
