Hilary Duff's Father In Jail

HIlary Duff HDuff082608_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Hilary Duff's parents Bob and Susan appeared in court for the latest round in their divorce proceedings, this time to discuss their daughter's upcoming 21st birthday party. According to the Houston Chronicle, Susan was seeking $25,000 to buy her daughter a present and throw her a party, claiming that the $10,000 Bob pays her per month is "not enough to pay [her] own bills," let alone cover expensive gifts.

In addition to the divorce proceedings, Duff was also accused of violating an injunction by selling off assets without court approval. He was ordered to pay the full value of the sale ($367,537) into a court repository, and was sentenced to ten days in jail for contempt of court.

Duff's lawyer Robert Piro pointedly asking Susan whether her "adult millionaire daughter" would be upset if she didn't get a party and a gift from her folks. Susan responded by pointing out that Bob had purchased plenty of presents for his girlfriend's sons, and that her daughter had been "emotionally upset by the abandonment of her father" and ought to have "some kind of recognition for a young life well-lived."

A few minutes later, Susan's lawyer Marshall Davis Brown questioned Bob about gifts he'd purchased for Hilary's sister Haylie, pointing out that he'd spent $25,000 on her birthday. When Bob affirmed that he wanted Hilary to get the same kind of gift her older sister got, Brown asked, "You're not mad at Hilary, are you?" Bob was reportedly so shaken by the question that he hesitated before answering, during which time Brown withdrew the question.

Bob Duff was ultimately ordered to pay his ex-wife $12,500 for his share in Hilary's birthday celebration.

Hilary Duff Teams Up With DKNY For Jeans Line

HIlary Duff DuffJeans200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Hilary Duff is getting into the fashion business with DKNY, WWD reports.

The former Disney star is collaborating on a new line of jeans that will hit stores this fall.

The collection, called Femme for DKNY, will feature pieces which can be worn in a variety of ways.

“There is truly something in this line for every girl whose styles change every day, like mine does,” she told WWD.

“Sometimes I want to wear tight leather leggings with a big plaid shirt, or other days I want to wear a floral-print dress but make it look edgy. Some days I like to be a bit more punk rock, but in a girly way. I love wearing layers and scarves, and I love that this line can be mixed and matched just the way you want it to. I think it’s the perfect line for young girls who can’t afford to buy a lot of clothes these days.”
