A second suspect, Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater was charged with abatement to extort and conspiracy on Thursday.

Bridgewater resigned her senate seat over the weekend and vowed to prove her innocence.

A third man, Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe has been questioned about the alleged extortion plot but has not been charged.

FBI To Assist in Travolta Extortion Investigation

John Travolta JettFBI200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (17online) - The FBI is helping investigate the alleged extortion plot involving John Travolta, E! News reports.

The agency is providing special voice-analysis experts to aid the investigation.

The experts will be used to look in to "sensitive" conversations that allegedly took place between Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater and Travolta's attorneys, according to E! News.

The conversations reportedly involved potentially embarrassing documents related to the death of the Travolta's son Jett.

E! News also says that earlier reports that the extortion attempt involved photographs of Jett are untrue.

There are certainly some reports out there speaking to some photos," a Bahamian official told E! News.

"That is incorrect, we are talking specifically about a document that the alleged accused purported to have in his possession and was using that document to extort a substantial sum of moneys from the victim, Mr. Travolta."

"This matter is still under investigation so I don't intend to get into specifics of the case," the official said.

Judge Declares Mistrial In Travolta Extortion Case

travoltamistrial200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A Bahamian judge has declared a mistrial in the John Travolta extortion case due to juror misconduct.

After four weeks of testimony, including a tearful recounting of Jett's death from John himself, proceedings were halted late last night after someone at a political rally revealed that the defendents were found not guilty.

The judge believed that one of the jurors, who had been deliberating for 8 hours, had "innapropriate" communication with someone outside the jury room, and declared a mistrial.

Although it must have been excruciatingly painful to go through it once, Travolta's attorney told The AP that his client would cooperate in any way possible and even testify again if necessary.
