The Jonas Brothers On Their Way To Number One

Jonas Brothers JonasBrother081208_05.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The Jonas Brothers' third album, A Little Bit Longer, was released on Tuesday, and the group's label is estimating that the album will bring in sales between 675,000 and 725,000. If they can break the 721,000 mark, they will beat out Coldplay for second biggest opening week, and if they hit 1,000,000 in sales, they will knock Lil Wayne down from the number one spot.

Their last album, Jonas Brothers, is crawling back into the top 10, and if both of their albums end up on the list, it will be the first time in a decade that a group has had two top 10 albums at the same time. The last group to achieve this was 'N Sync.

Britney Spears Nabs MTV Video Music Awards Nom

Britney Spears britvmas200.jpgNEW YORK, New York (X17online) - It looks like MTV will give Britney Spears a chance to redeem herself after last year's disastrous performance during the Video Music Awards. Spears video for "Piece of Me" is nominated for the top prize, video of the year.

The clip mocks her relationship with the tabloids and with the paparazzi, though Britney herself told X17 photographers, whom she invited into her home late last year, that she wasn't fond of the video (click here to read the story):

"I don't like the Piece of Me video," Brit said to our photogs. "The stuff they show of me on TV looks old."

She told X17online she wanted her new clip for "Hot As Ice" to be "something new" and fresh.

The Jonas Brothers are also nominated for video of the year for "Burnin' Up," along with Chris Brown for "Forever," the Pussycat Dolls for "When I Grow Up," and the Ting Tings for "Shut Up and Let Me Go."

This is Spears' third nomination for this years's VMAs -- she was also tapped in the best pop video and best female video categories.

Nominees in other categories include Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Foo Fighters for best rock video. Kanye West, Jordin Sparks, Madonna, Rihanna, and Katy Perry are also up for a statue.

"I write about my life," she said, "it helps me that I can talk about what happened and just get it out of my system."

While Swift didn't say exactly what led to the break-up, she said that Joe Jonas wasn't allowed to be seen in public with her because The Jonas Brother's management thought it would hurt Joe's heartthrob image to have a girlfriend.

The Jonas Brothers Part Ways With Disney's Hollywood Records

NJonas090211_01_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (x17online) - After six years, The Jonas Brothers are saying goodbye to their Hollywood Records label.

Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas have parted ways with the Disney-owned label after selling over 17 million albums worldwide. As part of the deal, the sibling trio also bought back the rights to their master recordings, merchandising and publishing for an undisclosed amount.

“This was a decision that we made as a group,” Nick Jonas told The Hollywood Reporter. “Naturally, as with any partnership, when you do part ways, there is emotion tied to it. We've been blessed to have a lot of success with Hollywood and with Disney, but speaking on behalf of my brothers and our team, we're all looking forward to this next chapter. We're ready for that next step as a group, and being able to take our work with us was so important.”

The record label recently released a statement regarding the split.

“Hollywood Records and Jonas Brothers have amicably ended an amazingly successful partnership after six years," a company spokesperson said. "Everyone should be proud of the role they played in helping bring their music to the masses. Together we sold over 17 million units worldwide. We couldn’t have asked for better partners or nicer people to work with. We wish Nick, Kevin, and Joe all the best in their future endeavors.”
