Katherine Heigl May Be Killed Off Grey's Anatomy
LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Katherine Heigl could be killed off ABC's hit show, Grey's Anatomy next season, according to a source for Us Weekly. After withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration because she wasn't “given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination,” inside sources report that the 29-year-old actress ruffled plenty of feathers. Writers are reportedly considering giving Heigl's character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, a brain tumor, and the source reveals that “[Producer] Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers are pissed at her. It’s their way of screwing with her. She won’t know whether she’s going to live or die.”
However, ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson said today of Heigl, “She’s absolutely staying with the show,” and added, “There’s an unbelievable storyline for her which is really central to everything that’s going to go on this season. We’re really excited about that.” Though this confirms Heigl will be staying with the show for now, it still doesn't rule out the potential of a brain tumor for her character.
In other Grey's Anatomy casting news, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will return for his role as Denny Duquette, a heart patient who died in season two.
