Katherine Heigl May Be Killed Off Grey's Anatomy

Katherine Heigl KHeigl053108_01_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Katherine Heigl could be killed off ABC's hit show, Grey's Anatomy next season, according to a source for Us Weekly. After withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration because she wasn't “given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination,” inside sources report that the 29-year-old actress ruffled plenty of feathers. Writers are reportedly considering giving Heigl's character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, a brain tumor, and the source reveals that “[Producer] Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers are pissed at her. It’s their way of screwing with her. She won’t know whether she’s going to live or die.”

However, ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson said today of Heigl, “She’s absolutely staying with the show,” and added, “There’s an unbelievable storyline for her which is really central to everything that’s going to go on this season. We’re really excited about that.” Though this confirms Heigl will be staying with the show for now, it still doesn't rule out the potential of a brain tumor for her character.

In other Grey's Anatomy casting news, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will return for his role as Denny Duquette, a heart patient who died in season two.

Katherine Heigl And Husband Josh Kelley Adopt A Daughter

heiglbabyadopt200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Katherine Heigl and hubby Josh Kelley are adopting a special needs baby girl from Korea, and in an interview which will air on Friday's Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress reveals she hasn't met her new daughter yet, but she will be arriving in California very soon.

Katherine told DeGeneres, "They sent us a picture. They told us that it was a little girl and who she was and the information about six months ago. It was meant to take a long time. This sort of thing can take years.”

“She has special needs. She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster," Katherine added. "They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible." Katherine said she plans to name the baby girl Naleigh, in honor of her mother Nancy and sister Leigh, and the two almost share the same birthday! “She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign."

Katherine said she discussed adoption with Josh before the two even got engaged, since it is an issue that hits close to home for her, as her sister Leigh was adopted as well. Katherine says, "It’s been a big part of my life and my family. My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the '70s and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do. I made that really clear because not everybody is down with that. Not everybody thinks that. I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understands that this was going to have to happen. So about a year ago is when we said, 'Okay! Let’s start the process and the process is intense. It’s just as intense I’m sure to have a baby biologically because you’re going through the whole physical sort of thing of it."
