Protests Planned for Katie Holmes B'Way Opening

Katie Holmes KatieHolmesNews_200.jpg

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Anti-Scientology protesters plan to disrupt Katie Holmes' Broadway debut performance in "All My Sons," the Daily News is reporting. It's just one of a larger series of protests planned against the controversial religion.

Last month, the group known as "Anonymous" whose member often don "V for Vendetta" masks with mustaches, carried signs outside the theater that read, "Scientology Kills" and "Free Katie, Keep Tom."

To counter the protesters, Scientology supporters are also expected. During the last protest, members of the church of Scientology shouted at members of "Anonymous" saying, "I need Prozac" (Scientology members oppose any psychiatric medication).

"Anonymous" is also reportedly planning a Holloween-themed protest on October 18th in Los Angeles. The protest group says it plans to "show the stark contrast between reality and the fiction sold to Scientology followers." A similar protest is planned in New York City where the group says they will dress as zombies to expose Scientology's alleged "brainwashing" practices.

Scientology church spokeswoman Karin Pouw tells the Daily News that, "Anonymous" is a "terrorist group" that "has fueled religious hatred and intolerance ... issued death threats ... threatened to destroy Churches of Scientology by detonating bombs ... and mailed envelopes containing fake anthrax to 25 churches."

However, Anonymous lawyer Graham Berry, responds that "to my knowledge, the FBI has found no connection between Anonymous and these so-called threats. Scientology has a history of inventing threats as part of its campaign of intimidation."

Katie Holmes' Profitable Broadway Debut

Katie Holmes KHolmesBWAY200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Katie Holmes' Broadway debut "All My Sons" is one of the few shows to turn a profit this year.

The show's producers officially announced today that the revival of Arthur Miller's play has entirely made back its $3.25 million investment, according to E! News.

"When everything is closing around her," said a star in one of the many Broadway shows expected to shut its doors next month, "this is a spectacular feat—of course, it's not just her, it's [costars] John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest, but no one will say that."

However, most agree that Holmes, and the interest in her high profile marriage to Tom Cruise, have spurred the majority of ticket sales.

Tom Surprises Katie On Her Birthday

Tom Cruise KHBD200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Even though he was 3,000 miles away in Los Angeles for the premiere of his new film Valkyrie, Tom Cruise made sure his wife Katie had a special 30th birthday celebration back in New York.

Following her performance in All My Sons, Katie's co-star, John Lithgow announced to the audience, "Tom Cruise, our good friend, devoted fan to the show, doting husband of Katie, could not be here tonight. He's heartsick that he couldn't be here ... but he wanted to make his presence felt. So, he's joining us, inviting all of you, to celebrate Katie's birthday."

A five tiered, white-frosted birthday cake was then wheeled out on stage, while the audience cheered and sang "Happy Birthday."

A seemingly shy Katie thanked the audience saying, "Thank you for coming out to the show tonight. It was a real pleasure."

Katie Holmes Says She 'Always Knew' She'd Marry Tom Cruise

Katie Holmes KatieWireCover.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Even as a teenager, Katie Holmes says she was certain she would grow up to marry Tom Cruise.

"When Top Gun came out, my sisters were like, 'Oh, my God, Top Gun! Tom Cruise!' And I very confidently said, 'I’m going to marry him one day.' It wasn’t like, How do I get to Tom Cruise? It was just: I think I’m going to marry him. Why not? He’ll like me. I’m fun," Katie says in the new issue of Glamour magazine.

And Katie says marrying the biggest movie star in the world wasn't as overwhelming as you might think.

"From an early age I knew that I wanted to be in this business. So I did everything I could to get here, and when I met Tom, I knew in an instant that we were going to be together, that we were going to get married. He does have a very big life. And you know, we just do it. And, as a woman, you make that transition from being single to [being] a partner. I have a teammate, and it’s like, we’re going to make this work," Katie said.

But forget about Tom controlling her, despite their 16 year age difference.

"[The age difference] was never a concern. I know one would think, Now, how is that? But really, we both like to work, we both like our families. It’s being there, being supportive, being an ear. It’s not so much, 'Do you think I should do this?' It’s 'What do you think of it?'

However, fame does have a downside for Katie. She says the rumors about her relationship with Tom and her daughter Suri were "not OK."

"Some of the stuff [people said] was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child. It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough."

Katie says Tom helps her deal with the media scrutiny.

We were changing diapers. He said, 'I don’t want you to get upset.' And I said, 'Well, I am upset.' So we approached it together. But I definitely felt like—as a woman, as the mother of Suri—I want to handle this! My mom is very strong, and if anyone ever said anything about any of us, she would be, 'Excuse me? That’s my family!'"

She also denies the rumors that Suri may soon be welcoming a baby brother or sister in the near future.

"I'm not pregnant right now," Katie says.

Katie Holmes Fails To Impress on 'SYTYCD'

KatieSYTYCD200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Katie Holmes' much anticipated song and dance performance on the 100th episode of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance?" was met with less than stellar reviews.

The New York Daily News said of Holmes' tribute to Liza Minelli, "it should have been more like, so you think you can strut around the stage and strike a few poses."

The paper managed somewhat of a compliment called her singing of Minelli's "Get Happy", "on key, if not voiced."

Katie was performing on the show to raise awareness for her Dizzy Feet Foundation.

Katie Holmes: “My Whole World Really Revolves Around My Family"

katieelle200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - A stunning Katie Holmes graces the November issue of Elle Magazine, and we're not sure if it's the sexy orange dress or the playful smirk on her face, but Mrs. Tom Cruise is looking better than ever!

We haven't seen Katie on the big screen in a while (Katie's next film, The Extra Man doesn't hit theaters until 2010), but it looks like the actress has really taken to the role of dedicated mom and wife.

On family life:

“In my own life, my whole world really revolves around family. I do what I need to do, but it’s like, ‘How is everybody else doing?’ And it’s wonderful for me as an actress to put some of that into a character.”

On life as a working mom on the Broadway set of All My Sons:

“Suri would sit in my lap in the makeup chair. She’d hand the wig lady the bobby pins.“

On fashion:

"I love Alaia, for sure. Stella McCartney. I like Ralph Lauren because I feel like it’s very American, and I’m pretty all-American, from Ohio. Isabel Marant and a new designer, Sari Gueron."

On the genre of film she loves most:

"It can be any genre. I even like vampire movies – they just have to be well done. I want to believe in the characters. The minute it starts to feel not real, I’m not interested.”
