Lady Gaga Says Her Father Saved Her From A Deadly Cocaine Habit

ladycoca200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Lady GaGa has revealed that her father saved her from a deadly cocaine addiction several years ago, and since the mini intervention, she has lived a much healthier lifestyle.

In recent interviews, GaGa admitted that she spent hours snorting cocaine by herself in her New York City apartment, playing songs by The Cure on repeat. The superstar said, "My father is a really powerful man, a telecom guy. So he looked at me one day and said, 'You’re f*ckin' up, kid.' And I looked at him and thought, 'How does he know that I’m high right now?' And he never said a word about the drugs, not one word. But he said, 'I just wanna tell you that anyone you meet while you’re like this, and any friend that you make in the future while you are with this thing, you will lose.' And we never talked about it again."

GaGa says she began doing coke regularly in 2005 after dropping out of NYU, and at one point she even thought she was going to die. “My cocaine soundtrack was The Cure. I loved all their music, but I listened to this one song on repeat while I did bags and bags of cocaine. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with me until my friends came over and said, ‘Are you doing this alone? 'Um, yes. Me and my mirror.' But I was able to stop, because I was panicking more on the drugs than I was sober. So I'm fine now."

In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, GaGa also said she used drugs to drive the inspiration for her eccentric hair and makeup. She said, "It was quite sick. I suppose that’s where the vanity of the album came from."

Lady GaGa To Duet With Elton John At Grammys

ladyeltongrammys200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Rumor has it that Sir Elton John will be joining Lady GaGa onstage Sunday night for a surprise duet!

Page Six reports that John's been tight-lipped about the rumored onstage hook-up, but we think we can expect another amazing performance out of the pair, like the one Elton surprised us with back in 2001 with Eminem.

We're not sure what I'm more excited for, what they're going to sing or what they're going to wear!

Lady Gaga, Adele Give Record Industry First Positive Growth In Years

GagaRecordIndustry200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) -- According to figures released Wednesday by Nielsen SoundScan, album sales rose 3.6 percent during the first half of 2011.

That's the first time since 2004 that sales have been positive for the record industry, which has been suffering a decade-long slide downward due to Internet piracy and declining album sales -- with the decline in album sales due to services such as iTunes that allow for listeners to choose individual songs over whole albums.

And it appears that, as Beyonce would say, girls run the world: Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Adele and Nicki Minaj have all moved millions of albums this year as well as millions of digital units.

Still, men are not far behind. Eminem's latest album has been a hit, and Bruno Mars, along with country stars Mumford & Sons and Jason Aldean have done well, though they haven't produced the millions that the ladies are getting.

The industry is hoping the increase will sustain itself, with new albums from Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Jay-Z, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Will Smith and Coldplay out soon.

Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Lady Gaga Take To Social Media

JustinBieber080911.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Justin Bieber is joining forces with Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Kanye West and over 150 other stars to use social media to bring attention to the drought and food crisis in East Africa.

They will take to their Facebook and Twitter pages on August 9 in support of Save the Children's new campaign. The region, and especially Somalia, is facing one of its worst droughts in decades, with over 10 million people effected. The music, sports, fashion and pop culture stars goals is to reach their combined 730 million fans and followers to raise awareness to the tragedy.

The campaign features the 1973 Bob Marley song "High Tide or Low Time," picked specifically by the Marley family. The singer's widow Rita Marley said:

"Not one child should be denied food nor water. Not one child should suffer. Along with Save the Children, we must stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives."

Save The Children is a non-profit organization that raises funds for food, water and medicine for impoverished children in the United States and around the world. They are working with agencies to deliver aid across East Africa, especially in Somalia where one million children are facing starvation if they do not receive food immediately.

China Bans Lady Gaga And Beyoncé, Among Others

Sites that do not comply with the new rule will be prosecuted, though the penalties were not specified.

Other songs on the ban list include: Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night,” and Britney Spears’s “Burning Up.”

Lady Gaga Hits Twitter Milestone With 20 Million Followers

LadyGagaVMAs091210_01_X200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Lady Gaga is the first person to reach 20 million followers on Twitter, surpassing her closest competitor Justin Bieber by two million followers.

The "Bad Romance" singer opened her account in 2008, and since then has used the social networking site to connect with her diehard fans, who she calls her "Little Monsters."

Whereas most celebrities allow their Twitter accounts to be managed by another party, Gaga claims she is the only person posting to her account. Although other celebrities, like Justin Bieber, tweet more often than Gaga, her fans are following the singer at a more rapid rate.

Gaga frequently uses her Twitter account to post messages of acceptance and praise for her fans, in addition to releasing information about her music, tours, and appearances.

Coincidentally, the top 5 most-followed people are all musicians. Gaga is in the lead, with Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Shakira, and Rihanna rounding out the list.
