Mary-Kate Olsen Opens Up In Elle

Mary-Kate Olsen ellemkolsen200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Mary-Kate Olsen graces the cover of the July issue of Elle, and in the article, she discusses her family and fame, as well as darker topics such as therapy and her stint in rehab for an eating disorder.

On her twin sister Ashley:

“We don’t agree all the time. The way we go about business or designing or making a decision is that we come at it from two completely different angles that, at the end of the day - even when we don’t think we’re agreeing with each other - we are agreeing. We’re just getting there in different ways. Unless you’re a twin, you honestly can’t know how close twins can be. When there’s that much love there’s...well, there’s the opposite of everything, but it stems from love, and it stems from passion. We’re driven people. I do know I can’t work in an office. Ashley, on the other hand, loves going to an office.”

On her unique style:

"You're either on the worst dressed list or you've started a fashion trend. I think there's a real disconnect between the media's perception of fashion and the fashion world's idea of fashion. I don't know why I wear some of the things I wear. I like wearing crazy things sometimes. I like being playful. Sometimes I feel like I'm playing dress-up and becoming character. It's sort of like an art. It can change your mood or the way that people are attracted to you."

On going to rehab in 2004:

"I have never talked about that, or been quoted about that. Look, I think it's important that what anybody goes through - and I'm not saying that it's true or not true - you realize it's part of growing up. Everybody is going to go through hard times. It's a part of life. I think the hardest part to get to is that point of asking for help or reaching out to other people and being honest with yourself. I do not want to go through my life with my eyes shut. And I don't want to go through it with a closed mind. I want to be aware of things. And I'd rather know than not know."

On seeing a therapist:

"Yeah, I talk with people. I think it's important. I wouldn't call 'em a shrink, but it's good to have communication with whomever, whether it's a mentor or a therapist or a psychiatrist, whether it's your mom or your dad or your best friend."

On Heath Ledger's death:

"I'm not going to comment on that - I won't give you a word about that in the nicest way possible. Let's move on."

On being famous:

"It's weird to be called a celebrity...I mean, if I see a paparazzi shot of me walking that's in a magazine or something at some event, it's as if I see it from an outsider's point of view. There's like a character, almost, and then there's me. I think it's kind of entertaining."

Mary-Kate Olsen Wants Immunity In Heath Ledger Death Investigation

Mary-Kate Olsen MKOlsen052208_14.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Actress Mary-Kate Olsen has refused to be questioned by federal investigators examining the accidental death of Heath Ledger unless she receives immunity, according to The New York Post.

The newspaper reports that the actress' attorney has repeatedly resisted attempts by the federal investigators to question his client, but investigators could obtain a grand-jury subpoena to force the actress to talk about the late actor and his possible drug use. All of the drugs in Ledger's body (and the prescription bottles present in his apartment) were legally obtained from two physicians except for OxyContin, and according to a source, investigators "are trying to ID the source of the OxyContin. Did it come from a dealer, from a friend? If he had a bottle from a friend, was it taken by someone else before police responded? That is what is trying to be determined."

Olsen and Ledger had been friends for nearly two years, and Olsen's masseuse, Diana Wolozin, was the one who discovered Ledger's body in his New York City residence. Wolozin phoned the actress before calling authorities, and Olsen called her bodyguards telling them to head to Ledger's home, which they did, around the same time as paramedics. The fact that Wolozin called the actress before she dialed 911 has raised significant questions as to what involvement, if any, Olsen had in the Oscar nominated actor's death.

Another source told the New York Post, "Everyone has been very eager to help, saying what a great guy Heath Ledger was, everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak." Olsen's lawyer, Michael Miller said, "We are not going to comment on whether there is a criminal investigation."

Mary-Kate Olsen's Lawyer Says She Had "Nothing To Do" With Heath Ledgers Death

Mary-Kate Olsen MKOLSEN080306_02_X17.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Though it was reported yesterday that Mary-Kate Olsen was not cooperating with federal investigators examining Heath Ledger's death, Olsen's lawyer said today that she has given investigators "relevant information" and the media reports are "incomplete and inaccurate."

Attorney Michael C. Miller issued the following statement:

"Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them. Regarding the government's investigation, at Ms. Olsen's request, we have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger's death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed. We don't know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the government's inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate."

It was reported yesterday that Olsen refused to be questioned by federal investigators unless she received immunity. Olsen and Ledger had been friends for nearly two years, and Olsen's masseuse, Diana Wolozin, was the one who discovered Ledger's body in his New York City home. Wolozin phoned the 22-year-old actress before calling authorities, which raised questions as to what involvement, if any, Olsen had in the Oscar nominated actor's death.

The medical examiner ruled that Ledger died of an accidental overdose, and all of the drugs in the 28 year-old actor's body were legally obtained from two doctors, except for OxyContin. According to a source for the New York Post, federal investigators were trying to figure out how Ledger acquired the OxyContin.

Mary-Kate Olsen To Be Subpoenaed In Heath Ledger Investigation

Mary-Kate Olsen MKOlsen062608_01.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The DEA has issued a subpoena that would force actress Mary-Kate Olsen to testify in front of a grand jury in the Heath Ledger death investigation, according to Access Hollywood.

Additionally, and all of the drugs in the 28 year-old actor's body were legally obtained from two doctors, except for Oxycontin and Vicodin, and investigators are still trying to figure out the source of those two medications.

Though it was reported earlier this week that Mary-Kate Olsen was not cooperating with federal investigators examining Heath Ledger's death, Olsen's lawyer said yesterday that his client has given investigators "relevant information" and the media reports are "incomplete and inaccurate." However, Olsen is still reportedly refusing to speak to federal investigators unless she is given immunity.

Heath Ledger Investigation Closed

Mary-Kate Olsen LEDGER022407200x.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The federal investigation into Heath Ledger's death has been closed, and the DEA subpoena against Mary-Kate Olsen will not be enforced.

The Associated Press reports that prosecutors have called off the case "because they don't believe there's a viable target." According to a government official, the subpoena is no longer valid because it was contingent upon prosecutors pursuing the case; however, the case could be brought back if evidence of a crime surfaces.

Olsen's masseuse, Diana Wolozin, was the one who discovered Ledger's body in his New York City home on January 22, 2008. Wolozin phoned Olsen before calling 911, which raised questions as to what involvement, if any, the 22-year-old actress had in Ledger's death.

Anti-Fur Protesters Target Olsen Twins

Mary-Kate Olsen OlsenTwinProtest200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Members of People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals protested outside a Westwood bookstore where Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were signing copies of their new book.

The protesters, who held signs reading "Fur Tramps" and "Fur Hags from Hell," want the Olsens to stop wearing fur.

"Compassionate fashionistas know that real beauty comes from the heart, but Mary Kate and Ashley seem to know nothing about that since they support an industry that treats animals so brutally," a PETA Spokesperson told X17online.

Some of the protesters wore Olsen twin masks as they urged the former Full House stars to join other celebrities who've given up fur.

"There are many stars that have switched to synthetic fur there's no reason for them to still wear fur," a protester said.

The Olsens have yet to comment on the protests.
