LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department is currently investigating two incidents that occurred in Malibu over the weekend that resulted in several paparazzi photographers being assaulted by beachgoers. The photographers were taking pictures of actor Matthew McConaughey surfing at Malibu's Point Dume and Paradise Cove beaches when they were harassed and attacked by a large group of surfers, sustaining minor injuries and thousands of dollars in damage to their camera equipment.

Though Sergeant Kinest of the Lost Hills Sheriff's department initially told X17online that the incident would be investigated, he added that there were "no injuries," and that it was "an isolated incident," giving the impression that the incident might not have been a serious threat. However, Malibu Mayor Pamela Conley Ulich has expressed concern for the safety of the public, and the police are taking the matter very seriously.

In recent months, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department has received an increasing amount of complaints against the paparazzi including traffic violations, blocking sidewalks and driveways outside of businesses and homes, activities around local schools and other acts that pose a potential threat to public safety.

According to the office of Mayor Ulich, in May the City Council of Malibu consented to have Mayor Pamela Conley Ulich work with Pepperdine Dean Kenneth Starr and other constitutional law experts on a pro bono basis to carefully consider whether additional regulations are warranted to protect peace and public safety. However, any new ordinance must be in harmony with the first amendment free speech rights as well as the right for individuals to take photographs in public spaces.

Malibu Mayor Pamela Conley Ulich states:

"I am hopeful we can develop and implement an effective strategy that will address outstanding public safety concerns and balance those concerns against protected 1st Amendment activities and commercial activities. We are blessed to live in a small town where everyone can relax at the beach and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of nature. The City of Malibu will do all it legally can to protect and preserve the natural beauty and tranquility of our town."

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves welcomed a son into the world at 6:22pm on Monday evening, a publicist for the actor confirmed to X17online. This is the first child for the couple, who have been dating for about a year and a half.

Last January, McConaughey wrote on his official website: "My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being a mother and a father, and sheparding him or her through this life."

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves have revealed that their son's name is Levi Alves McConaughey.

McConaughey told OK! Magazine, "Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person. Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: "If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light."

The proud parents also released the following statement:

"We welcome Levi Alves McConaughey into this wonderful life and look forward to living in it with him. In the mean time and all times, just keep livin'."

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey is getting $3 million from OK! Magazine for exclusive photos of his newborn son Levi, according to the New York Post.

An insider for the newspaper said, "His publicist, Alan Nierob, begged him not to work with [OK!] because he's considered an A-lister. But Matthew hired money man Todd Shemarya, who brokered the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie $4 million People deal."

Nierob told X17online, "We have no involvement with any deal nor negotiations relating to this matter."

Levi Alves McConaughey is the first child for McConaughey and his girlfriend, Camila Alves, who have been dating for over a year and a half.

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey wants to start a record label, and according to a source for the New York Post, "He's looking for a distribution deal with all the major labels for his own label. His first artist is a reggae guy called Mishka. The album will be called Above the Bones and the first single is Here Comes Da Train. He's also doing the soundtrack for Surfer Dude." In addition to doing the soundtrack for Surfer Dude, McConaughey stars in the film and is also listed as a producer.

A representative for McConaughey's confirmed the story but added, "There is no single yet."

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Two surfers accused of attacking a photographer trying to snap a picture of Matthew McConaughey have pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery charges, according to the Malibu District Attorney's office.

Skylar Peak and Philip Hildebrand are accused of pushing photographer Richid Altmbareckouhammou and hurling his camera into the ocean in June as he tried take pictures of a surfing Matthew McConaughey.

Video taken that day shows a large crowd of beach-goers taunting and swearing at photographers who had gathered to capture images of the actor. Only Peak and Hildebrand have been charged in the attack.

A pre-trial hearing is set for January 14th.

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey announced on his website yesterday that he and girlfriend Camila Alves are expecting their second child.

The news was announced on Father's Day in an entry reading:

"Happy Father's Day. It's my first, and the last 11 months with Levi and Camila have been the most rewarding adventure to date. We have more blessed news to celebrate this Father's Day that makes this time next year double the fun. Levi is going to be a big brother. Yeah, we pulled off the greatest miracle in the world one more time. Camila and I are expecting our second child, bringing more life into the world, making more to live for. The future looks bright as the family grows, and we thank you for all the well wishes you send our way."

This will be the second child for McConaughey and Alves who welcomed their son Levi into the world on July 8, 2008.

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey posted a picture of his four-week-old daughter Vida on his website, and the proud papa wrote, "Our latest family member, Vida Alves McConaughey."

Last night Matthew and his babymama Camila Alves celebrated her 28th birthday at BeauRivage in Malibu, and the couple got all dressed up for the occasion. A beaming Matthew was spotting bringing a handful of silver balloons into the restaurant, and Camila looked like she had already lost most of the baby weight

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Matthew McConaughey and Oscar-winner Hilary Swank, are signing on to star in the film The Dallas Buyer's Club.

The film is based on the story of Ron Woodroof, a Texas man who contracted AIDS and smuggled alternative drugs for himself and for other AIDS patients.

Eventually he gets caught by the US Food and Drug Administration, who has keeping the drugs out of the country.

The Dallas Buyer's Club originally had Brad Pitt attached. No word yet on what character Hilary will play.

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Already known for his shirtless off-screen antics, Matthew McConaughey will soon remove his clothes for a new on-screen role – as a stripper.

McConaughey has joined the cast of Magic Mike, a Steven Soderbergh-directed film about three generations of male strippers.

Channing Tatum, who signed on to the flick in April, inspired the storyline; Tatum famously worked as a stripper before his rise to Hollywood stardom.

"This was a wild and pivotal time in my life and I couldn't be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven," Tatum shared in a press release announcing the film in April.

McConaughey will play Dallas, a strip club owner and the oldest of three generations of strippers.

Magic Mike will begin filming on September 14 and is scheduled for a 2012 release date.

LOS ANGELES, California (x17online) - Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are headed to HBO as the two will play cops in a new drama for the acclaimed network.

The drama, titled True Detective, will revolve around detectives Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson) whose lives become intertwined during a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana.

The show, written by Nic Pizzolatto (The Killing), has been ordered for eight episodes. This will mark the first time both McConaughey and Harrelson will star on the small screen together.
