Shakira Visits Earthquake Survivors In Haiti
LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Shakira took a trip to Haiti to visit earthquake survivors who are now homeless as a result of the January 12 disaster. The Columbian pop star will help to build a much-needed school for children in the Port-Au-Prince area, according to the Associated Press.
She also made a stop at a Haitian golf course where over 50,000 quake survivors are now living, many of whom are infants.
The singer is no stranger to humanitarian work. Her Barefoot Foundation currently provides nutrition to more than 6,000 children in Colombia.
Sean Penn was also in Haiti over the weekend providing humanitarian aid to the people of Port-Au-Prince. The actor met up with Shakira, and both stars spoke about the various challenges the people now face since the disastrous earthquake.
