Vera Farmiga To Star In Madonna Film
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (X17online) - Vera Farmiga certainly made a splash this past weekend in her pink Marchesa dress and Madame Butterfly Christian Louboutins. The 36-year old actress has no problem getting noticed. Now she's also got the attention of Madonna.
The Queen of Pop is in talks with Farmiga to star in a period piece that would not only be produced and co-written by Madonna, but the material mom would also serve as director.
The romance-themed movie is about the real-life drama surrounding England's King Edward VIII's decision in 1936 to give up the throne so that he could marry the twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson. Farmiga would be playing Simpson. Ryan Phillipe's ex Abbie Cornish is also in negotiations to star in the film. As for King Edward, a male actor has yet to be cast for the role.
When asked about her meeting with Madonna, Farmiga tells E! Online: "We sat for a cup of tea and again for a cup of tea. Hopefully, it will all come together. I'm actually not familiar with her work, and I told her this flat-out. She sent a couple of films and I still haven't seen them. I go by other things. I go by scripts. I go with what I think I can do with a character and if I feel a kinetic energy with someone and I feel we can uplift and challenge each other."
Madonna has only directed one movie to date. The 2008 film Filth and Wisdom was not a success with critics nor audiences.
The name of this upcoming Madonna-directed film has not yet been named.
