Zac Efron EfronFootloose200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Zac Efron has pulled out of a planned remake of the '80s classic "Footloose," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Efron Says He Quit 'Footloose' To Avoid Typecasting

EfronFootloose200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Zac Efron says the fear of typecasting is why he decided to drop out of the planned remake of Footloose.

"I'm sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge," Efron tells EW.com, "but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That's what's always going to appeal to me: the unknown."

As X17online reported last week, instead Zac has agreed to re-team with 17 Again director Burr Stears to star in The Death & Life of Charlie St. Cloud, which is a super-natural coming of age/romance story.

Zac Efron Says 'No Marriage Til 40'

EfronGQ200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Zac Efron may want to think about how his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens will react when he tells a reporter that he "never" thinks of getting married.

"I’m definitely not getting married. In this business, you’re either getting married or they want you to be pregnant. I’m not getting married until I’m 40. If ever," Efron says in the upcoming issue of GQ. "The thought never crossed my mind."

Efron also opens up about the infamous photograph of he and Hudgens apparently taken in a sex shop.

"That’s a Halloween store," Efron says. "You know those stores that pop up during Halloween? But there’s always an adult section. And somehow there was a brilliant lapse in judgment, and I decided to take a photo with a fan, in front of a giant dildo or something."

Zac says is embarrassed by the picture and says his parents and friends tease him about it.

"My mom was like, 'Zac, what are you doing in a sex shop?' And I was like, 'Mom, it’s not a sex shop.' My dad called me, and he’s like, 'Y’know, Zac, just from now on’—it was literally straight out of American Pie— 'if you’re shopping for sex toys, don’t take pictures with fans inside the store.' I’m like, 'Really, Dad? I’ll take that into consideration next time I’m stocking up.’ And then my friend is like, 'Next time why don’t you take a picture holding a giant dildo? Really give ’em something to talk about,'" jokes Efron.

Zac Efron Considering A 'Spin' In New Direction

EfronSpin200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Zac may be getting in to the world of celebrity PR for his next role.

Mark Malkin at E! News reports Zac's peeps are considering turning the new novel Spin into a feature film. The book is described as The Devil Wears Prada for the public relations crowd.

Although no deals are set, many fans could be excited about the idea of Zac playing an assistant to a hard-partying, coke-snorting, assistant-abusing publicist. And even though Zac's character is straight, he finds himself forced to be a little hetero-flexible to please an important client.

Could be a great way for Zac to break that clean-cut High School Musical Image.
