Cindy Lee Garcia is speaking out regarding her role in the movie Innocence of Muslims ... the YouTube video by Sam Bacile which reportedly caused Muslims to kill U.S. Ambassador, J. Christopher Stevens.

Garcia is suing YouTube and Bacile for misleading her in thinking that it was an "historical Arabian Desert adventure film."

In front of the L.A. County Superior Courthouse, Garcia told the media:

"My whole life has been turned upside down ... It's degrading, demoralizing ... it affected our ambassador, our Navy SEALs ... I think America needs to stand behind us on this. What [the director] did was wrong. So many people were affected by it."

Garcia claims her family has been threatened as a result of her being in the movie, and she fears for their lives.

The actress adds, "It's degrading, demoralizing ... it affected our ambassador, our Navy SEALs ... I think America needs to stand behind us on this. What [the director] did was wrong. So many people were affected by it."

The YouTube film was shot in July 2011.
