Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been reportedly found dead in his apartment on Sunday morning.

According to the New York Post, the 46-year-old died of an apparent drug overdose as he was found in the bathroom with a hypodermic needle still in his arm at his Greenwich Village home. His personal assistant called 911 after finding his body around 11:30 a.m.

Hoffman has had a history with substance abuse, even publicly admitting his exploits during a speech to graduates at NYU's drama school in 2006. Last year, he reportedly checked himself into rehab for ten days after experiencing a relapse in 2012.
