Our photog tried to nail Matt Damon to the wall about his recent gaffs -- but the 44-year-old turned the tables on the paps and made us look like fools. Nice one, Matty!

The actor, who has come under fire and been accused of making homophobic and racist comments, stepped out for a workout with wife Luciana Barroso in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Of course our photographer couldn't resist asking/yelling at the Oscar winner about his controversial comments on race and sexuality in the industry. When asked about all the hubbub, Damon smartly played dumb, and then answered our question with another question, "What do you think I said ... who said that?" Then our man on the street came on with this beauty response: "The Internet!"

Point, Damon.

Meanwhile, the The Martian actor talked about his famous friendship with Ben Affleck and going through trying times together -- namely his relationship with Jennifer Lopez -- in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"There’s nobody who’s more misunderstood. Ten years ago, the public image of him could not have been farther apart from who he actually is. It was like he was being cast in a role, that he was a talentless kind of meathead, with his whole relationship with Jennifer Lopez."

"He just got cast as this person that he wasn’t. It was just really painful. It was painful to be his friend, because it wasn’t fair, you know? To my mind, nobody really got him at all."

It appears as though the public is getting him now. Despite the media coverage over the destruction of his marriage and cheating scandal, Ben's been a fan and critic darling for years -- cementing his elite status with Gone Girl and Argo.

Looks like 17 years after Good Will Hunting debuted, these two BFFs are still crushing it!
